OverviewHarperCollins Publishers has an exciting opportunityfor an experienced solutions driven Senior Logistics Specialist to join our operations team. In this role, you will be a member of the logistics team and be responsible for Logistics Planning operations and service standards.You will bring with you prior experience in the fields of load planning, distribution, supply chain or logistics. Ideally, you will also have experienceworking in a remote/virtual team environment and coordinating with carriers, dedicated fleets and 3PLs in both the contract and spot markets. In addition, you will have strong experience in logistics planning, tracking/tracing, and time critical shipments.As part of this team, youwillworkwithnumerous supply chain stakeholders to support a best-in-class efficient logistics organization with the necessary balance between cost and service. You willbe responsible for executing best practices and all appropriate KPI\'s and reporting tools.Responsibilities

  • Reports to Senior Logistics Operations Manager
Ensures established Logistics service levels are met or exceeded.Coordinates inbound movements to HC facilities to ensure timely and efficient pickup and delivery by working directly with 3rd party vendors and HC Logistics Operations.Responsible for tracking / tracing functions related to shipments and reporting to stake holders.Coordinates with Logistics leadership to establish special project/time sensitive process.Consolidates customer orders into optimal load profiles, determines transportation schedules, and assigns carriers to loads utilizing internal or external Transportation Management System (TMS).Responsible for load planning, optimization, routing, and scheduling of all transportation modes.Has thorough understanding of carrier\'s equipment portfolio and service area.Negotiates with carriers for non-contracted lanes (spot quoting) and makes decisions on behalf of customer within individual customer parameters; makes best financial decision as representative for the logistics department.Expedites shipments, when necessary, on behalf of customer.Monitors and ensures on-time pick-up and delivery.Recommends corrective action management to resolve customer concerns.Monitors and ensures timely receipt of carrier documentation.Collaborate with other departments (production, sales, finance, IT) to make more cost effective, streamlined, and efficient supply chain decisions.Demonstrate an understanding time critical operations and be able to present service and price options for overall transportation efficiency.Support senior leaders by managing metrics reporting and KPIs.Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in supply chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related field or equivalent educational and on the job training.
3+ years of applied Logistics/Supply Chain experience.Experience managing TL, LTL and intermodal movements.Understanding of freight markets, modes of transportation, transit levels.Domestic experience.Experience working with carriers, brokers, 3PL\'s.Experienced in Load Planning principles derived from order level data utilizing all network resources.Capable of coordinatingwith resources from other disciplines and effective at working across multiple organizational boundaries.Proficiency using various software tools including SQL (other databases), Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation and delivery of Power Point presentations and Spreadsheet Analysis.Ability to work in a fast-paced, cooperative team environment.Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience with TMS and WMS
