The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will develop, maintain, and enhance new and existing systems to support future business initiatives, product lines, and compensation programs. Analyze transaction data from various upstream and parallel sources, build and update Java applications, and calculate measures used for compensation to be distributed to our field force and their recognition. Work closely with product managers, business analysts, and engineering colleagues to understand and refine business requirements related to insurance compensation. Work with modern engineering tools, languages and practices including Java, Spring Boot, Relational Database, and Restful Services. Work in an agile development framework, participate in daily scrum meetings pull feature work tickets in Jira and complete development work within the sprint. Write and modify Java applications using the Spring Boot framework, interface with other applications over HTTP via REST and SOAP and JMS via MQ and SQS. Implement business rules as code that allow for classification, filtering, and calculation of base and management sales measures. Write automated unit, functional, integration, and regression tests. Use Git and GitLab for source code version control. Author and update Maven build files, Dockerfiles, and Kubernetes manifests for deployment of artifacts to non-production and production environments. Create sprint plans and give technical guidance to new developers. Create POC for new systems, design, and architecture. Make design decisions for implementation by team. Create an estimate for feature delivery for planning purposes. 100% telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the U.S. Salary $123,386 - $200,200 per year. Minimum Requirements: Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus 1 year (or a bachelor\'s degree plus 5 years) professional experience as a software engineer or related occupation. Experience must include 1 year of experience with each of the following: (1) working with modern engineering tools, languages and practices including Java, Spring Boot, Relational Database, and Restful Services; (2) developing solutions using Agile methods; (3) writing and modifying Java applications using Spring Boot framework; and (4) interfacing with other applications over HTTP via REST and SOAP.
