Role Summary:The Senior Systems Operation Control (SOC) Flight Control Manager is the sole subject matter expert on duty, managing operational control of all Horizon flights (operating under 14 CFR Part 121 regulations). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgement and initiative to solve decisions pertaining to aircraft rotation, tail number assignments, flight cancellations and flight delays. Key Duties:

  • As the subject matter expert on duty, this role will determine Systems Operation Control (SOC) operational decisions pertaining to aircraft rotation and tail numbers according to aircraft capability, flight crew qualification, and route limitation.
  • Exercise considerable judgement and initiative to ensure appropriate communication with Air Traffic Control (ATC) facilities, local and national delay programs while ensuring staffing is maintained to effectively manage delays.
  • Make decisions to ensure compliance in accordance with Company policy and applicable 14 CFR regulations pertaining to all decisions for flight cancellations, flight delays, added flights, or modifying the routing of flights.
  • Influence across the company and leadership levels to review and recommend procedural changes.
  • Ensure timely action on long-term strategy for the SOC to drive compliance with company standards.
  • Determine flights for cancellations, upgrades, or downgrades that impact the fewest number of passengers with the least negative impact to the operation.
  • Execute contingency plans and provide ongoing support and communication throughout the recovery.
  • Support and direct stations on situations to maintain operational continuity (e.g., aircraft damage, employee injury, hazmat issues/concerns, etc) by utilizing the customer service framework and current security/FAA directives.
  • Monitor daily flight activity and recommend the best course of action to protect passengers and bags during irregular operations.
  • Collaborate with a variety of teams to ensure safety & compliance.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:Required
  • 7 years of experience in airline operations, analytics, customer service (or combination of these) with at least 4 of those years in an SOC/Operations role.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a variety of schedules including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
  • Possess CFR 14, Part 121 Dispatcher license.

Salary Range: $99,900 -- $149,900 / year Salary Details:Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
