Position Summary

The Senior WordPress Developer works closely with 829 Studios\xe2\x80\x99 in-house client services and development teams to maintain, upgrade, and implement new features on large-scale, award-winning websites. This role requires high attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills; as well as excellent communication skills. This is a great opportunity to work on a wide range of projects ranging from small businesses to international corporations.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Maintain and upgrade existing client WordPress websites.
• Implement new features and functionality as per client requirements.
• Help ensure high performance and availability of websites.
• Optimize websites for maximum speed and scalability.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting solutions.
• Adequately review and approve pull requests.
• Create new repositories and configure them appropriately.
• Establish and troubleshoot CI/CD pipeline management
• Create new site environments and migrate existing environments.
• Manage DNS configurations for a large number of clients
• Integrate WordPress with a variety of 3rd party APIs. Examples might include Blackbaud, Veracross, TractionRec, and others.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to relay project status and convey complex technical solutions at their appropriate skill level
• Collaborate with other developers and disciplines within the agency

• Expert knowledge of WordPress architecture, themes, plugins, and custom development
• Ability to work within custom theme and plugin development (no theme builders) and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
• Expert knowledge of front-end websites and applications using HTML5, CSS3, SASS, PHP, and ES6.
• Expert understanding of media queries and responsive design
• Familiarity with Git version control system and CI/CD pipeline management
• Experience with frontend build tools such as Webpack or GulpJS
• Experience working directly with Ubuntu and Nginx
• Experience with hosting platforms and tools: WP Engine, AWS, SSH, Ubuntu, & NGINX
• Strong problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting & research
• Experience in following Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
• Accountable, delivering project requests on time; as well as communicating blockers effectively and proactively
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Ideal experience would include:

• Experience with DevOps relative to WordPress and comfortable in a terminal and command line
• Experience reading, deciphering, and implementing bi-directional sync processes using 3rd-party REST APIs such as TractionRec or Salesforce
• Experience with modern JS frameworks such as React or Vue
