Overview
SerVermont, Vermont\'s State Service Commission, has an opportunity for an individual with passion for national service to make a difference in the lives of Vermonters by serving as a Communications and Recruitment Coordinator for all national service programs in Vermont. We are seeking a professional with the skillset to tell the world the story of SerVermont and AmeriCorps, and recruit individuals to serve as AmeriCorps members in Vermont.
The position will afford the right individual the opportunity to independently manage all aspects of our communication strategy and develop our AmeriCorps member recruitment efforts. This individual will be developing our communication strategy, creating website and social media content, as well as recruitment materials and branding initiatives. This position will collaborate with AmeriCorps program staff and members to enhance AmeriCorps member recruitment efforts and strategy. Preference will be given to candidates with national service and AmeriCorps program management experience.
Founded in 1993, AmeriCorps State is the direct service branch of AmeriCorps. Vermont\'s AmeriCorps State Programs are funded and administered by SerVermont which is housed within the Agency of Human Services. Since 1994, 6,400 Vermont residents have served approximately 9.5 million hours and earned education awards totaling more than $23.6 million. AmeriCorps State in Vermont is "Getting Things Done!"
Vermont hosts over 2,200 AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers annually at more than 400 service locations and is currently recognized as the #3 AmeriState for having the 3rd most AmeriCorps members per-capita. Additionally, SerVermont manages volunteers in the event of disasters, and supports other volunteer efforts.

This position, SerVermont Communications and Recruitment Coordinator - Limited Service (Job Requisition #49525), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Environmental Factors
Duties are generally performed in a standard office setting. Some travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation may be needed. Strong differences of opinion and persons under stress may be encountered for which tact and diplomacy are necessary. Some work outside of regular work schedule may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in communications, outreach, marketing, public relations, social or human services, or other pertinent field AND two (2) years or more of experience in communications, outreach, marketing, and public relations.
OR
Four (4) years or more of experience in communications, outreach, marketing, and public relations.
Preferred Qualifications
AmeriCorps alumni and/or experience working with national service programs.
Special Requirements
Prior to starting in the position candidates must pass all elements of the National Service Criminal History Check required by AmeriCorps for individuals covered by the grant.
