Your role in our mission

At HMS a Gainwell company the Service Authorization Specialist analyzes inquiries through the use of personal knowledge of the particular functional subject matter. Augments knowledge with reference materials as needed.

Provides response and takes appropriate action to resolve. May interact directly with original requestor, advise others on how to respond or escalate to a higher level if needed. Consults with management and/or business organization management to develop/implement appropriate response/resolutions for complex issues. Monitors customer inquiries for a specific functional area, tracks progress and resolution of escalated inquiries. Contributes to a shared knowledge database to facilitate response consistency and to document complex issue resolution. Assists less experienced staff in developing appropriate responses.

What we're looking for

Two or more years of functional area experience (i.e. finance, human resources, procurement, information technology, etc.) Experience working with fax machines, computer software and telephone technology. Business and analytical problem-solving. Good communications skills. Ability to follow written policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ability to read and interpret basically to moderately complex documents, such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and government/healthcare guidelines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills, professional telephone and presentation skills, excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills.

The pay range for this position is $44,800 - 64,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
