Our Santa Maria location is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Shop Service Technician to join our team, ensuring our clientsxe2x80x99 equipment operates at peak performance and reliability.Position Overview:
The Shop Service Technician is responsible for performing complex diagnostics and repairs on construction and CWP equipment. This role supports our mission to deliver dependable service and maintenance, directly contributing to client satisfaction and operational efficiency. The Shop Service Technician will be based in Santa Maria, California, working in a collaborative team environment and interacting directly with customers to address their service needs.Job Responsibilities:

• Diagnostics and Repairs: Perform complex on-site diagnostics and repairs on construction and CWP equipment, using advanced tools and techniques to meet industry standards.
• Training Participation: Engage in required Service EDUCATE Training programs to stay current with industry practices and John Deere equipment knowledge.
• Customer Interaction: Review and explain maintenance, repair, or service concerns directly with customers, documenting all findings on work orders to ensure transparency.
• Service Promotion: Promote and sell dealer service programs directly to customers when applicable, enhancing our clientsxe2x80x99 understanding of available maintenance options.
• Inventory Management: Collaborate with the Parts Department to implement effective stocking processes, maintaining seasonal parts inventory in the service vehicle.
• Equipment Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of John Deere products and competitor offerings to deliver accurate and informed service.
• Safety and Maintenance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, maintaining the condition of the mobile service vehicle, trailer, tools, and equipment.
• Documentation and Accountability: Complete all required reports and forms accurately, accounting for time and materials used in performing assigned tasks.

• Minimum of 4 years of experience performing service repairs on heavy equipment.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients.
• Proficient in performing complex repairs and maintenance tasks, with expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with John Deere Service Advisor and basic computer functions.
• Forklift license preferred.
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly and to operate diagnostic vehicles and equipment.

Preferred Experience:

• Advanced or Master Service Technician certification is highly desirable.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience required; an Associatexe2x80x99s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Office suite for basic documentation and report completion.

Other Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older to comply with safety regulations.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

Physical Demands:

• Physically able to perform hands-on tasks with heavy/diesel equipment.
• Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, or ladder climbing may be required.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, depending on the season.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. at a time.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Wage: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour, based on experience.
• Benefits: Health, dental, and vision coverage, along with paid time off and paid holidays, effective after 90 days of employment.
