We are wellness redefined.Achieving Excellence:As the Spa Maintenance Manager, you are responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in the overall maintenance of Alyeska Nordic Spa and ensuring our high standard of quality in our facility: hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and facility buildings. You will lead the Pool Operator/Facility Maintenance department to ensure all mechanical systems, pools and facilities are operating in accordance with our brand and Regulatory Standards.Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Leads the management of ANS buildings including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems
  • Directs employees within the scope of the Pool Operator/Facility Maintenance division who assist with the ongoing day to day maintenance of the facility
  • Ensure a comprehensive preventative maintenance program is effectively implemented and maintained
  • Maintain and update documented records of all equipment
  • Ensure that an effective team is developed that works together as a unit, ensuring all aspects of an assigned task are completed in a timely manner, with Quality always prioritized
  • Report all Pool Operation/Facility Maintenance items to the General Manager in a timely manner
  • Ensure the highest level of communication with ANS Management, and PKML Management (ex. facility closures, contractor service dates, preventative maintenance plans, ordering, new procedures, etc.)
  • Produce the highest quality of standards while working in a fast-paced hospitality environment
  • Champion safety at all times by utilizing the services of highly qualified and quality-oriented suppliers
  • Identify and prioritize organizational objectives, ensuring that the pool operation and maintenance process is continuously improved through the use of ongoing evaluation and problem-solving teams
  • Be a key resource in the recruitment, selection and training of Pool Operation/Facility Maintenance staff members
  • Duties include, but are not limited to management of, performance reviews, scheduling, payroll, daily sales & labour and purchase orders
  • Ensures disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Core Values and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs and Core Values)
  • Be available to step in for ANS front line absences when necessary
  • Be available on-call when the Chief Engineer is on vacation or otherwise unavailable
  • Assist in forecasting, financial reviews, expense tracking, and other fiscal activities
  • Develop preventative maintenance practices which ensure the longevity of all equipment, including the monitoring and tendering of all service contracts
  • \xe2\x80\x9cHands on\xe2\x80\x9d and \xe2\x80\x9cLead by example\xe2\x80\x9d approach with day to day Pool Operation/Facility Maintenance duties and/or projects as required
  • Any other job or duties assigned by the ANS Leadership as and when required

Education and Experience:
  • 3-5 years experience in a progressively senior role of responsibility with strong knowledge and understanding of the Engineering and Maintenance Process, or Aquatic Facility Operation
  • Strong knowledge of Pool or Spa Operation is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in a related field a definite asset. Qualified candidates should possess their 4th - 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate - at minimum for 3 years
  • Experience in preventative maintenance, energy management, fire safety, and health and safety
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Must live on site
  • Recognized team player and a self-starter with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to train, coach and develop associates in an entrepreneurial and progressive environment
  • Proficient in Windows, PMS and MS Office applications
  • Post secondary education in a related field a definite asset including:
  • Pool Operations Certification
  • Building Operators Certification
  • Building maintenance Level 1 and 2
  • Confined space certificate
  • Diploma or degree in engineering related trades. Along with certification in related fields
Working Conditions:This position may work long days and/or weekends to meet periodic upturn in business demands or meet deadlines. This position is set in a fast-paced environment, with high levels of interaction with employees, guests and other stakeholders. Working outdoors in a variety of Mountain weather conditions, with average temperature ranges of -22f to +86f.Physical Demands:The employee is regularly required to be on their feet, reaching with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Visual ability to observe employees in the workplace, analyze operations and detect situations of concern with regard to areas such as employee performance, grooming, training and policy adherence.
