About Us



Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 by Fairbanks, Alaska community members committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of behavioral and mental health needs. Today, FCSA has over 100 employees dedicated to our mission of providing unconditional care to children and their families.

FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. FCSA is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was one of the first organizations to be licensed by the state to establish, recruit, and monitor foster homes.

Smart Start Learning Center is a subsidiary of FCSA and provides daytime care to families in our community. Employees of FCSA are eligible to enroll their children in childcare services and enjoy a discount on their monthly tuition (contingent on enrollment availability).

About the Job



This position is Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

Responsibilities:



Assists the Special Education Teacher in providing physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in special education setting. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.

Provide individualized and small group instructions in basic skill content, remedial and GED curriculum, physical education and/or arts and crafts activities and other goals as identified on a student's Individualized Education Plan

Assist as appropriate in administering individualized and group assessment tests

Assist Special Education teacher in the evaluation of a student's transcript of newly admitted students to determine their educational needs.

Provide input to the Special Education teacher as to the student Individual Education Plans (IEP) and instructional goals.

Become familiar with each student's Individualized Service/Mental Health Treatment Plan (ISP).

Observe student behavior and implement behavior modification plans as written.

Motivate, encourage, and assist students to complete identified IEP and ISP goals.

Assist in planning and implementing recreational and/or arts and crafts activities.

Maintain compliance with state, federal, and local school district laws, regulations, policies, and reporting requirements.

Performs a variety of general office / paperwork tasks associated with special education clerical functions within the RTC School or as are required for coordination with the FNSBSD special education department.

Must be able to make decisions of a routine, job-related nature.

Assists in the recording, compiling, and maintaining of special education records.

Provides information to parents and teachers relative to Individual Education Plan (IEP) reviews, i.e. 30?day advance notices of annual or three-year reviews.

In conjunction with teaching staff, organizes and maintains a uniform record keeping system based on the useful, legal, and archival values of school district records.

Prepares or transcribes routine correspondence, memoranda, forms, and records; performs data entry for student records and maintains appropriate back-ups.

Maintains files of correspondence, certification files, and other records, including confidential materials; manages record-keeping information, i.e. referral, consent for testing, evaluation, eligibility, and placement documents.

Must be able to use standard office equipment, including computer, printer, copy equipment, fax machine, 10-key calculator, and phone system.

Qualifications:



High school diploma or GED required.

A minimum of 21 years of age.

Currently living in Alaska, our local area. At this time we are only reviewing applicant who are in our local area.

Valid Drivers License. This position is a driving position and will be required to drive our company vehicles as scheduled. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.

Experience: Must be competent in the use of computer word processing software; experience with E-mail, and Internet. At least one year's secretarial experience is preferred.

Good knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and equipment, as well as general knowledge of English, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic math are required.

Good oral and written communication skills are required.

Must have ability to interact with others in a courteous and tactful manner, to meet deadlines, to flexibly reprioritize work as needed, and to maintain confidentiality of records and oral information.

Potential employees must undergo a fingerprint check, which shows that their record is free from criminal convictions, which in the judgment of FCSA, would adversely affect their ability to work safely around children

Pay: $19.33 - $21.00 per hour
