The Special Education Paraeducator, consistent with the individual education plan (IEP) or individual family service plan (IFSP) assists the Special Education Teacher with lesson plan preparation; one-on-one and small group instruction; classroom management; student observation and assessment; and communication with parents and staff.See what it\'s like to work for our Special Education ESA:Salary:
The full salary range for this position is $18.96 - $23.57 per hour. Newly hired paraeducators will be placed on steps 1 - 3 of our salary schedule ($18.96 - $20.29 per hour). Step placement will be based on years of verified paraeducator or teacher experience.Assignment/Location:
We are recruiting for a Special Education Paraeducator to serve Kalama MS/HS in the Kalama School District. This position is 32.5 hours per week, school year schedule.Only complete applications will be considered.A complete application will include: * Complete work history section, including ANY and ALL employment going back 10 years

Essential Functions/Other FunctionsEssential Functions: * Assist the Special Education Teacher, consistent with IEP or IFSP goals, in lesson plan preparation; one-on-one & small group instruction; classroom management; student observation & assessment; communication with parents and staff, in a variety of school settings.
  • Supervise students.
  • Collect data and report student progress.
  • Maintain accurate data collection records.
  • Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
  • Provide positive behavior management support, consistent with the IEP or IFSP.
  • Attend to the physical needs of students, including moving and positioning students & assisting with personal hygiene needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops and seminars.
  • Participate as a member of the education team. May attend parent conferences.
Other Functions: * Other duties as assigned.Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & SkillsMinimum Qualifications: * At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet one of the following educational requirements:
  • Associate\'s Degree OR
  • 48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university; OR
  • Passing score of 455 on the ParaPro Assessment; OR
  • Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment; OR
  • 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.
Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in a special education classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.
Working Conditions/Employment RequirementsWorking Conditions: * Classroom setting, may move from classroom to classroom to provide services.
  • Provide assistance and attend to the physical needs of students including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs, including but not limited to: tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting.
  • Sit, stand, and stoop to attend to student\'s needs & to provide instruction.
  • Regular attendance during assigned work schedule.
  • Travel within ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.
Employment Requirements: * Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  • Within three years of employment meet Washington State Core Competencies for paraeducators as defined in WAC 392-172A-02090 (f).
