The SQL Server Developer designs, develops, documents and maintains database and reporting environments to ensure that the performance, quality and reliability surpass the expectations of our customers. The position also aids the DBA\'s to assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues when needs arise on a daily basis.

Job Functions

• With little guidance architects and develops reports across various reporting platforms: SSRS, Logi Analytics, PowerBI, etc.
• With little guidance architects and develop views, store procedures and functions for reports and database maintenance, archive and purge.
• Review query performance and work with developers to create optimized queries
• Design and code database tables to store application data
• Work with project management and support team on ensuring maximum performance and uptime of all customer systems
• Work with internal IT teams to ensure performance optimization of internal SQL environments
• Create and manage table indexes to improve database performance
• Keep the database schemas and documentation up-to-date
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs issues (data or DB code) and performance issues
• Share in an on-call rotation for customer support
• Completes tasks with little to no need for direction and oversight.
• Be responsible for or be a contributor to documentation artifacts including functional requirements documents, design documents, and data management plans
• Input on decision making processes regarding how to implement new database functionality and design
• Assist Project Managers and Quality Assurance in development and testing efforts
• Create standards for our databases and decide whether developer database requests comply with our standards
• Travel to provide onsite implementation or troubleshooting support

Travel Requirements

• 20% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications

• Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
• Please note this position is not remote, our company supports a hybrid work model which requires individuals to come in Bastian Solutions Louisville office a few times a week.
• Bachelor\'s degree in IT or Engineering
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Previous internship or co-ops in related field
• Experience in the design and building of data models
• Experience in relational database design and tuning
• Working knowledge of SQL Server, TSQL, Visual Studio and TFS
• Knowledge of database tuning and troubleshooting
• Ability to design, develop and create database objects on Microsoft SQL Server platform. i.e. Tables, Indexes, Keys, Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, Triggers, etc.
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Willing to travel up to 20% to support the project implementations in the field.
