Role Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for the design of various mechanical components of the battery cell, including 3D CAD modeling, dimensioning, manufacturing methods, and tolerancing. You will work closely with the cross-functional teams (electrochemical design, cell manufacturing, Pack design and manufacturing) in order to develop a wholistic cell design that meets cell performance, reliability, safety, and cost targets. You will also work with national and international suppliers as well as Rivian supply chain teams for the cell components.
Responsibilities

• Ensure that the various mechanical components of the battery cell work in unison to delivery the required cell performance, reliability, and safety metrics
• Write and manage component functional requirements.
• Ensure that the CAD models, tolerance analysis, and GD&T are completed for components.
• Work with Rivian Validation team to write DVP from component requirements and DFMEA.
• Support prototype builds to execute development testing and support development vehicle program.
• Work with Rivian Supply Chain to quote and source production suppliers.
• Work with suppliers on component DFM to reduce cost and improve quality and reliability.
• Work with Rivian manufacturing team on component DFA to improve manufacturability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience with Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or 1+ year of industry experience with Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in mechanical engineering.
• CATIA V6 proficiency is a must have
• Familiarity with lithium ion cell chemistries and form factors.
• Excellent understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and first-principles thinking
• Design experience for injection molding, forming/stamping, casting, extrusion, and composite layup.
• Experience with release engineering including CAD design and GD&T
• Strong oral and written communication for supplier engagement, program timing, and project management.
• MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) proficiency

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California-Based Applicants: $130,000- $150,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).
