About the team:

The eBay Global Customer Experience (GCX) team is responsible for building experiences that customers love in Service Delivery. The role we are hiring for is Senior Data Scientist as part of the Global Analytics team supporting this GCX organization. We are responsible for customer behavior insights and product impact analysis, among others.

The Role:

The role is focused on collaborating with Product and Business teams and measuring comprehensive impact of various product & program launches on customer contact behavior. In addition to robust statistical knowledge, collaboration and storytelling are required. It is vital to have strong intellectual curiosity, and a passion for achieving practical business impact. Skills in quantitative analysis, problem definition and recommendation development will be essential. You will have superb communication skills, initiative, and integrity. Outstanding business judgment and quantitative analytic ability.

Responsibilities:

Develop sophisticated machine learning models and handle the building of these from development through testing and validation

Analyze large sets of data to understand the impact of product & policy changes on the customer journey

Work with business partners, engineers and other collaborators to build, launch and deploy solutions

Communicate performance in a clear and insightful way to the business to facilitate timely and informed decision-making

Ensure statistical rigor is applied to all analyses and business recommendations

Document and publish results and research

Qualifications:

MS/PHD preferred, 3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience

Solid Understanding of 1 or more scripting and programming languages (Python, Java, Scala, etc.)

Experience in SQL, NoSQL databases

Experience with a variety of machine learning frameworks including supervised/unsupervised learning using Python, Tensorflow, PyTorch, etc.

Experience with Big Data technology: Hadoop framework \xe2\x80\x93 Hive, Spark a plus

Strong analytical skills with proven problem solving ability

Excellent written, verbal, and social communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization in a clear, timely and effective manner

Passion for problem-solving and a solid ability to work with ambiguity

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range below. $135,200 - $205,700

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
