Senior Excursions Manager

Reports to: Director of Excursions

Category: Management Year Round

Salary Range: 75,000 -90,000

Summary:

The Sr. Excursions Manager is responsible for all aspects of successful excursions operations at Icy Strait Point, including Tour Sales, Excursions Operations and the overall guest experience, including productivity and profitability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point\xe2\x80\x99s guiding principles: Best, Authentic and Profitable Tour Destination.
• Lead assigned tours, and staff in coordinating seasonal operations.
• Lead communication efforts between shipboard staff and management of onsite excursion sales.
• Assist Tour Sales Manager and help train sales staff in effective selling, upselling, settlements, and analytics.
• Assist the Excursions Director by:

• Oversee communication and compliance of contracted tour providers.
• Conduct weekly, and as needed, meetings with Excursions Supervisors and Excursions Staff to provide coaching and boost morale.
• Ensure all tour equipment is tour ready, including routine cleaning, service checks, and compliance.
• Lead general compliance, maintenance, and dispatching.
• Lead regular safety and tour quality auditing.
• Assist in site wide operations process improvement efforts.
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years working in tourism industry, preferably in Alaska, with emphasis in operations and guest services.
• Minimum 7 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience managing staff.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and aptitude for learning other computer programs.
• Proven outstanding customer service philosophy and practices.
• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in business or tourism preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Able to lift 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and walk 5+ miles daily
• Able to work long hours in peak season with limited time off
• Willing to live in a remote, rural community
• Comfortable traveling by small plane or ferry to and from a remote setting
• Able to walk and drive on gravel roads in inclement weather
