Content Operations is ultimately responsible for successfully delivering entertainment and sports content to millions of people every day. This involves developing, operating, and leading a global content supply chain \xe2\x80\x93 the myriad of steps involved from taking a finalized TV show/movie, or live piece of content, from inside Disney to audiences around the globe, in their preferred language and format. This team also leads technology operations in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.As a member of the Production Support Team within Asset Management, the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for understanding the core functionalities of the systems in the portfolio, build tools to aid in the management and support of the systems, and serve as the escalation partner for high level production support tickets and requests. As such, the Senior Software Engineer\xe2\x80\x99s primary functions will be to develop support, monitoring, and deployment tools, help resolve high level support issues, address defects, and enhance up-time for the entire portfolio. The engineer will be working alongside the team in a global 24x7 capacity to triage, assign, prioritize, track and resolve technical issues. The position will not only work within the support team but will have to engage with other disciplines of the extended project team, including product, information security, QA, software, systems, network, and database teams. This role will also mentor and coach junior members of the team.
  • Triage, assign, and prioritize user-reported incidents and requests using a ticketing system
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production support issues and defects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers and partners across the organization to resolve issues
  • Identify and resolve system outages and assist with root cause analysis
  • Develop, expand, and administer system monitoring and production support tools and CI/CD pipelines and aid in driving software deployments
  • Serve as first line of communication from users with regards to technical inquires or issues related to the applications
  • Follow coding guidelines and standard processes when coding a solution
  • Design, implement, and unit test backlog items for legacy applications
  • Partner with various teams to identify ways to increase system up-time and make system optimizations
  • Write and maintain technical documentation
Basic Qualifications
  • 7 years of experience in a senior engineering role
  • Bachelors Computer Science or related technical field or its equivalent
  • Experienced knowledge of JavaScript, Java, .Net, SQL, MongoDB, APIs and messaging services
  • Expert in supporting and debugging applications in JavaScript (NodeJS, React), Java, SQL and MongoDB, and knowledge of a scripting language (Perl, Python or Ruby)
  • Experience with working on applications in Linux-, Windows- and Cloud-based platforms
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • String understanding of networking principles, fast file-moving technologies/protocols (Aspera and Signiant products), on-premise storage/mapping, and cloud-based storage solutions (AWS S3)
  • Strong understanding of information security principles
  • Proactive work style with the ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to explain and document the systems to their diverse audiences
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively with team members across multiple subject areas
Preffered Qualifications
  • Expert in domain knowledge of asset management and accelerated transport systems
  • Proven understanding of various deployment tools and CI/CD principles (Jenkins)
  • Able to comfortably multitask and context switch based on prioritization with partners
  • Able to make meaningful decisions when given incomplete and conflicting information
  • Highly self-directed, being able to both lead and (re)prioritize the multiple, concurrent, and contending challenges, issues, ambiguities, and contradictions that sometimes occur during the creation of software solutions in a constantly evolving environment
  • Good interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • 4 years relevant entertainment industry experience is a plus

The hiring range for this position in Connecticut is $136,100 to $182,400 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate\xe2\x80\x99s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
