Robert Half is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant with terrific organizational skills to take up a short-term contract / temporary position at a growing company in the Marketing/PR industry. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will provide support in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and work alongside our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. What you get to do every day
- Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
- Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
- Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
- Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Requirements
- Recent and relevant accounting experience
- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
- Strong attention to detail
- Skilled with ERP systems
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- Excel Formulas experience
- Experience with cash applications
- NetSuite experience
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel
- Month end closings experience preferred
- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
- Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
