Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s Degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, public health, applied mathematics, computer science, or closely related field, or equivalent experience required
• 3+ years of related work experience required
• Statistical programming experience in SAS required
• Strong database management and computer skills required

Additional Qualifications and Skills

The following job-specific skills and competencies are preferred:

• Master\'s degree in Statistics/Biostatistics preferred, with 1-3 years working experience preferred
• Knowledge of statistical research methodology/principles
• Knowledge of SAS
• Knowledge of SUDAAN and UNIX
• Ability to summarize/interpret complex analyses and strong deductive reasoning skills
• Ability to maintain detailed documentation of data management and programming work
• Comfortable working with multiple PIs and multiple projects at the same time
• Advanced skills/experience in statistical programming and data management

Position Description

The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and research team members on a wide range of project-related tasks.

These duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Organizes, maintains and manages data used in large research studies from multiple sources
• Designs analytical databases and maintaining the integrity of the databases, including merging of multiple data sets and data manipulation to perform statistical analysis
• Manages large data sets involving multiple years of data
• Interaction with remote consultants or team members
• Provides statistical analyses for multiple projects including multiple logistic and linear regression, longitudinal analysis, hierarchical models, and survey analysis
• Development of scientific reports and presentations
• Gives guidance to, and collaborates with faculties and statisticians on analytical objectives
• Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is committed to training and inspiring the next generation of health care leaders. We work on compelling and important problems, from making the delivery of care safer and more efficient, to expanding health insurance coverage and eliminating disparities, to designing and improving the performance of entire health systems.

Faculty members in the Department of Health Policy and Management seek an energetic and organized Statistical Analyst/Programmer to assist with a portfolio of multidisciplinary health policy and health services research projects.

The Statistical Analyst/Programmer will be an integral member of a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team on statistical analysis of large scale data. The incumbent works with faculty (physicians and social scientists) and research assistants to provide comprehensive data management/analysis support for a variety of projects and personnel. Typical team projects include studies related to quality measurement, access to care, and health care reform.
