Job Summary: Gulf Coast Industrial is currently seeking a Steamfitter. The Steamfitter is responsible for installing, repairing, troubleshooting, modifying, and maintaining steam distribution systems, pneumatic heating systems, high-pressure piping systems, and water distribution systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installs/repairs/replaces pipes of varying sizes, reducing valves, shut-off, and control valves on high, low, and medium pressure steam.
  • Plan and layout piping, piping support, fittings, and fixtures to be fabricated and assembled according to plans and specifications.
  • Prepare pipe for welding and cutting pipe, using a hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer, chisel grinders, and various beveling and cutting torches.
  • Thread pipe, using a threading machine, and bend pipe and tubing by hand or with pipe-bending machines and tools.
  • Assemble and install pipe and pipe fittings of brass, copper, lead, carbon, and stainless steel of various compositions, glass, plastic, and other materials.
  • Use rigging in the installation and maintenance of piping and components.
  • Test piping systems for leaks, using gauges, hydro-static testing equipment, compressed air, and other certification technologies as required by standards and codes.
  • Secure pipes to and on structures with clamps, brackets hangers, and other supports according to codes and specifications.
  • Troubleshoots and installs all types of steam/hot water boilers.
  • Uses a variety of tools and test equipment including threaders, cutters, grinders, flaring, and brazing equipment.
  • Performs minor welding and soldering.
  • Sanitizes water mains after installation or after breaks have been repaired, using the proper chemicals.
Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:
  • Ability to communicate well and work in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • 2+ years of steam fitting experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, equipment, and materials used in the installation and repair of steam and hot water systems and fixtures.
  • Considerable skill in the operation of steam fitting tools and machinery.
  • Reasonable physical strength and dexterity are necessary.
  • Must Have Valid TWIC Card
