Apply now.Starting pay $26+/hr PLUS $2/hr shift differentialAvailable shift: 2ndBrief SummaryThis is an individual contributor position responsible for operating the HLAW (Hybrid Laser Arc Welder) cell and Sub Arc Seam Welder to weld the seams of steel shafts. The Seam Welder Operator is responsible for leading shafts into the welding machine with the use of a conveyor or an overhead crane and operating the seam weld positioning tuners. The Operator must position the piece through the weld head(s) as the weld is deposited to make a pole. The Seam Welder Operator is also responsible for adjusting carriage speeds, side roll pressures, amperage and flux flow. The incumbent also assists with or operates an overhead crane or forklift in material or supply movement. The Operator monitors the quality of incoming steel and determines when material is substandard, as well as reports damage to the product or machinery to the Utility Person or Lead Person. The person in this position also may be assigned to other work areas in production when the machine is not running.Essential Functions\xc2\xb7 Responsible for feeding shafts into the welding machines for pole production\xc2\xb7 Continues the flow of the line of operation in mid-size pole shafts\xc2\xb7 Calibrates weld head for material thickness\xc2\xb7 Maintain communication between other Operators in mid-size pole production areas\xc2\xb7 Responsible for making mathematical calculation in preparing product or setting up the machinery\xc2\xb7 Ability to read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistance and use them to properly weld scheduled workImportant Details\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures\xc2\xb7 Pass an American Welding Society (AWS) welder operator qualification test for submerged arc welding (SAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW)\xc2\xb7 Actively participate in department LEAN activities and demonstrated performance working in a team environment\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate knowledge of Valmont\xe2\x80\x99s quality procedures, standards, and practicesRequired Qualifications\xc2\xb7 At least three (3) years of minimum welding experience\xc2\xb7 Must be able to pass an AWS welder operator qualification test for GMAW process\xc2\xb7 Read blueprints and use a tape measure\xc2\xb7 Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds maximum, although most frequent lift is up to 20 pounds\xc2\xb7 Stand and walk for the entire shift\xc2\xb7 Ability to read and write\xc2\xb7 Perform math functions such as add, subtract whole numbers, fractions and decimals\xc2\xb7 Use appropriate tools and equipment to inspect and maintain quality of the poles such as foot-controlled foot turner, GMAW welder, Plasma and cutting units, stick and hand grinders, along with various hand tools to assist in the welding of shfts\xc2\xb7 Complete die changes as required throughout production of material\xc2\xb7 Ability to be trained on and pass tests for operating an overhead crane and forklift\xc2\xb7 Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty\xc2\xb7 Must possess acceptable work history and attendance recordHighly Qualified\xc2\xb7 High School diploma or GED\xc2\xb7 Ability to become AWS and CWB certified in MIG or Flux Core\xc2\xb7 Prior experience working in a manufacturing settingBenefitsValmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family\xe2\x80\x99s overall wellness needs are met.
