Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team in this brand new 8 bed residential treatment facility. We have taken the institutional feel out of recovery in this home like environment with close staff who work closely with all clients recovering from Substance Abuse and co-occurring disorders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance abuse issues and Co-Occurring diagnosis. This role requires a strong understanding of addiction, mental health, and effective counseling techniques to facilitate recovery and improve the quality of life for clients. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work closely with patients to assess their needs, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing support throughout their recovery journey while under the supervision and direction of a Licensed Professional Counselor/Behavioral Health Professional.

Responsibilities



Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine the extent of substance abuse and related issues. Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic evaluations and patient needs. Provide crisis management support to clients in distress, ensuring their safety and well-being. Offer individual counseling services that may include PTSD care, family counseling, and behavior management strategies. Facilitate group therapy sessions to encourage peer support and shared experiences among clients. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective care. Engage in research data collection to contribute to program development and improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, treatment progress, and outcomes in compliance with ICD-9 standards. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care for patients.

Requirements



A degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is required; relevant certifications in substance abuse counseling are preferred. Proven experience in crisis management and patient care within a clinical or community setting. Strong skills in patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Familiarity with substance use recovery practices and family counseling approaches is a plus. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of behavior management strategies and experience implementing them effectively is desirable. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in counseling practices.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.40 - $27.66 per hour
