JOB DESCRIPTIONSchool Location: Central High SchoolGrade 9 Rising 9th Grade Transition Special Education Teachers Summer Learning Program 2024 (Up to 3 positions)Mandatory PD Day: June 27, 2024
Program Dates: July 8 - July 19, 2024Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pmPlease Note: Teachers must commit for entire schedule during the Summer High School Learning Program.Description: Teachers needed to provide academic instruction in math. Must be must be Special Ed certified for grade 9. Must complete mandatory 8 hour paid professional development for Sea Perch curriculum prior to program start date.Teaching positions are based upon enrollment and funding. $3,000 Stipend for days worked for the duration for the program
$40.00 Per hour for the PD dayContingent upon fundingEDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCERIDE RequirementsCurrent/valid RI Teacher Certificate in the appropriate Secondary Special Education subject areaRIDE Certification Requirements:Secondary Sp. Ed. 7-12ESL PreferredDESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES

  • Create a fun, engaging and safe learning environment for Grade 9 students
  • Implement a district summer learning curriculum to Grade 9 students focused on ELA, Mathematics, and Science
  • Provide direct service for whole group, small group, and individual instruction based on student needs
  • Administer and interpret educational assessments
  • Implement a range of effective math and ELA evidenced-based instructional strategies and interventions
  • Differentiate instruction by developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students
  • Promote a classroom atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students
  • Monitor and evaluate student outcomes maintaining appropriate records and following all required procedures and practices
  • Participate fully in a professional community including common planning, professional development, and self-reflection/evaluation
  • Supervise students in a range of settings; protect and promote the safety and well-being of students, colleagues, equipment, materials/facilities
  • Communicate and interact appropriately and professionally with students, colleagues, parents, and the community
  • Continuously develop and evolve teaching practice and support colleagues in their development
  • Must commit to working all days of program as part of Summer Learning program requirements
  • Must commit to attend all professional development days as part of Summer Learning program requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
  • Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in the appropriate secondary subject area, MLL and/or SPED certifications preferred
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Education from an accredited teacher education program
  • Prior experience in in delivering high quality, standards-based Mathematics, ELA or STEAM instruction in a fun and engaging manner, urban setting preferred
  • Ability differentiate and scaffold instruction to support and accelerate learning
  • An asset-based view of diverse cultures and a belief in growth mindset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
