  • Collaborates with Charge Nurses, Nursing Leadership, Medical Assistant Leads and/or Medical Assistant Preceptors with training and development plan for MA team.
  • Consistently follows and role-models FHCSD Policies and Procedures to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Oversees the Medical Assistant schedule and performance metrics.
  • Supervises workflow of the Medical Assistant team and delegates tasks.
  • Actively works with Medical Assistant Preceptors and/or Medical Assistant Leads participating in teaching/training of Medical Assistants as assigned and acts as a resource to other healthcare personnel.
  • May assist the Charge Nurse to ensure quality standards are met consistently.
  • Collaborates with Charge Nurses and clinic operations leadership to develop action plans to improve performance metrics as needed.
  • Monitors staff performance to ensure regulatory standards are maintained.
  • Ensures Medical Assistants are performing within their scope of practice.
  • Ensures the completion of new Medical Assistants 90-day competency assessment
  • Monitors staff performance to ensure Vaccine Storage and Handling standards are always maintained.
  • Monitors staff performance to ensure clinic audit standards are always maintained
  • Actively participates in nursing staff meetings and huddles.
  • Ensures on-going training of AIDET, SOC and best practices is provided throughout the department.
  • Applies and coaches\xe2\x80\x99 team on 5S and continuous improvement methods in the workplace.
  • Monitors and reviews team MA performance report.
  • Completes orientation and annual focal performance reviews of Medical Assistants under their charge.
  • Reviews patient care processes with interdisciplinary team for quality care.
  • Promotes teambuilding and strong communication between various service lines.
  • Keeps sites in compliance with TJC, DH, CHDP, and Medi-Cal Managed Care requirements.
  • Attends nursing in-services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Medical Assistant diploma from an approved course required.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training required.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No more than 2 violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 7 years.

Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Medical Assistant required.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and be a resource Medical Assistants and Medical Assistant Leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to show flexibility, ensure accuracy, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-workload environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain good working relationships with employees, coworkers, and departments.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong motivation to act as a resource to new Medical Assistants.
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. $27.50 - $32.12If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors \xe2\x80\x93 we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
