The Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Cybersecurity and Privacy, reports directly to the General Counsel and will be a key member of the legal leadership team. This role will lead the cybersecurity, security, and data privacy functions in the Leidos Corporate Law Department. This is a global role and will encompass both domestic and international responsibilities. This role will also partner with the Legal and Corporate functions for any cybersecurity and privacy litigation. The position will also work closely with Leidos\xe2\x80\x99 cross-functional IT teams.

The Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel is an executive role and will be expected to advance Law Department initiatives by influencing, collaborating, and partnering with key stakeholders in the business groups and the Corporate functions. This leader will be expected to be visionary, experienced, and knowledgeable of the constantly evolving changes in Cybersecurity, Security, and Data Privacy law, and will advise the Company on related legal trends and matters. On occasion, the position will be expected to brief the Leidos Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors.

This leader\xe2\x80\x99s team will include the Leidos Global Privacy Office (GPO). The GPO supports the Leidos Privacy Program, including the daily operations of the program; development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and standards across the Company; monitoring program compliance; investigation and tracking of incidents and breaches privacy related aspects; and helping ensure Leidos compliance with applicable laws and regulations throughout the Company globally. The GPO supports Leidos business groups with efforts to incorporate privacy compliance into products and services, including supporting marketing and proposals; and helps draft and negotiate privacy related language in all corporate contracts for vendors and customers. The GPO regularly coordinates and collaborates with Corporate Security, Legal, Risk Management, IT Cybersecurity Contracts, Procurement, HR, and Ethics and Compliance.

The Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel will also manage the Senior Counsel, Cybersecurity and Security Law. The Cybersecurity and Security Law attorney works closely with the Leidos Chief Information Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, and Chief Security Officer, and their teams. This lawyer will advise the Company on various issues including new and emerging information technology, cybersecurity, insider threats, and security classifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and counsel to the GC, CIO, and CISO on legal issues related to new and emerging technology.
  • Support Leidos\xe2\x80\x99 comprehensive cybersecurity, insider threat, and privacy programs.
  • Support the development of Leidos\xe2\x80\x99 cybersecurity policies, products, assessments, reports, and processes.
  • Continuously develop and refine Leidos\xe2\x80\x99 incident response processes, including in response to specific regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the Leidos privacy function to ensure integration and consistency of cybersecurity programs and compliance with U.S. and international privacy protection regimes.
  • Work with the Leidos security function to maintain and update security investigation guidelines, conduct security investigations, and provide counsel in the areas of security and facility clearance law.
  • Liaise with government regulators and law enforcement regarding cybersecurity incidents, new initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
  • Work with the GPO to maintain a strategic and comprehensive privacy program, and a privacy organization that effectively implements privacy compliance on a global-scale.
  • Negotiate high value technology transactions with key IT and security suppliers.
  • Work with and manage outside counsel on investigations and litigation matters.
Qualifications & Skills

Education:
  • J.D. with excellent credentials from an ABA accredited, nationally-recognized law school.
  • Currently licensed to practice law in at least one state and willing and able to become licensed in Virginia within one year of joining Leidos.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 12+ years of legal practice, including significant experience working in the field of cybersecurity, security, privacy, and/or technology.
  • Extensive experience working with Defense and/or US Government contracting.
Preferred Experience:
  • TS/SCI preferred or eligible.
  • Experience with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
  • Experience with cybersecurity standards, frameworks, risk assessments, and certification processes, including the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and the requirements of DFARS 252.204-7012.
  • Experience advising sophisticated companies on legal issues in establishing cyber defenses and investigating security incidents.
  • Experience in U.S. and international privacy program management, knowledge of U.S. and European privacy laws (including HIPAA), regulations and best practices.

Pay Range: Pay Range $255,000.00 - $340,000.00 - $425,000.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
