Summary Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept

Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).



Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage Systems related programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the following:
  • Execution for SPOCT (Systems, Performance, Operability, Controls & Transients)
  • Support focal on Field Investigation TOPS8D
  • Support Troubleshooting engine operation in fielded aircraft, whether in-flight or in a customer test cell. Understanding fleet performance and maintenance trends, particularly in challenging (hot and harsh) environments.
  • Engage in the understanding of the impact of part non-conformances and determining if parts can be used in the field. Supporting field safety assessments when hardware quality concerns arise.
  • Supporting the design of new turbomachinery by evaluating the Performance and Operability impacts
  • Provide guidance on field actions \xe2\x80\x93 control plans and field hardware campaigns
  • Cognizant of Customer management, Engine technical risks and mitigation\'s processes, Test strategy and engine cost strategies
  • Support the translation of the Engine Requirements to Systems Requirements at a (Flange to Flange) level includes:
  • Activities related to the interdisciplinary field of engineering focusing on how to design and manage complex engineering systems over their life cycles and ensuring all likely aspects of a project or system are considered, and integrated into a whole.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an engineering capacity
Desired Characteristics
  • Master\'s or Ph.D. in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
