Teacher - Inpatient Educator
Full-Time
The SBHS Inpatient Teacher delivers educational services to SBHS child and adolescent patients (as well as 18-year-old patients who are enrolled in high school) by providing instruction to patients during inpatient hospitalization. The Inpatient Teacher maintains an orderly and disciplined structure in the hospital classroom. The Inpatient Teacher develops special interventions for patients unable to function within the classroom setting and assists in curriculum development. The Inpatient Teacher participates in patient treatment planning and staffings when necessary. The Inpatient Teacher understands basic human growth and developmental milestones and delivers appropriate interventions specific to the age and population served. The Inpatient Teacher completes patient lesson plans and maintains all records as required. The Inpatient Teacher maintains an adequate supply of appropriate instructional materials relative to patient\xe2\x80\x99s age and functioning level and participates in case management activities as required. The Inpatient Teacher communicates with patient home schools during patient\xe2\x80\x99s hospitalization and assures the maintenance of a safe and sanitary environment.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor\'s Degree in Special Education required, Masters preferred.
Experience: One year teaching children and/or adolescents who have emotional or behavioral disorders
License/Certification: Valid Illinois teaching certificate with LBS1 certification in Special Education. Primary Source Verification shall be required through ISBE. Other relevant credentials may be accepted at the discretion of the CEO and Director of Human Resources
Additional certification as alcohol or other drug abuse counselor is preferred..
