Under the general supervision of the School Principal, plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning through coaching, employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter; including strategies to meet the diverse staff needs.The Dayton Way

• Utilize leadership skills that convey a strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Strong foundation in reading and math content and instruction (K-6), or in reading and/or math content and instruction (7-8).
• Be proficient in technology skills and have the ability to integrate technology into the classroom.
• Understand district testing procedures, concepts about testing, and the utilization of student data to improve instructional practices.
• Use interpersonal skills to collaborate in a professional manner with other staff members. xe2x80xa2 Demonstrate proficiency in the utilization of best practices teaching strategies.
• Model a deep understanding of curriculum and the Ohio Learning Standards.
• Create and present professional development concepts for adult learners with different levels of knowledge of the concept(s).
• Understand cross curricular integration of concepts.
• Analyze data and support teacher planning for intervention strategies or enrichment reflected by the data analysis.
• Support the building principal and teachers with TBT and BLT initiatives.
• Understand grade appropriate instructional strategies.
• Co-teach to model classroom instruction when needed.
• Support teachers with the alignment and integration of district-approved materials to the curriculum.
• Understand the vertical and horizontal alignment of curriculum and instruction.
• Monitor the use of curriculum standards, pacing guides, and requirements of state and school district.
• Work with the curriculum team to revise pacing guides and courses of study, to review curriculum standards, and to implement guidelines or district requirements.
• Demonstrate knowledge of formative and summative assessment strategies.
• Assist teachers to create common assessments by grade level and subject area.
• Model the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with all stakeholders. Serve as an instructional coach with other teachers in a one on one capacity.
• Share ideas on: formative and summative assessments, teaching strategies, classroom structure, best practices, data and assessment, classroom management strategies, and other professional knowledge.
• Support teacher planning of intervention strategies for ELL and/or students with disabilities.
• Maintain professional confidentiality.
• Demonstrate professionalism, exhibit a professional attitude, and model appropriate behavior.
• Uphold district policies and procedures.
• Prepare reports as required by the Principal and/or Chief Academic Officer.
• Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.

• This position is pending Title I funds, it will be examined on an annual basis.
• The Teacher Leader will be evaluated by the building Principal, with input from the Chief Academic Officer.
• DPS teachers who serve in this position will continue to accumulate their service on the seniority list.
• The salary is based upon the teacherxe2x80x99s current salary and experience for the school year.
• Teacher Leaders may be granted 5 to 10 extended service days, a teacher would be paid at a per diem rate for these days. (These days are determined and approved by the Chief Academic Officer.)

• Bachelor degree in appropriate field from an accredited institution. Mastersxe2x80x99 degree preferred.
• Holds a current and valid Ohio License for grade level/subject area.
• Required to participate in an appropriate Teacher Leader program/coursework as determined by the Superintendent.
• Multiple grade level teaching experience preferred.
• At least three (3) years teaching in the Dayton Public School District and five (5) years overall teaching experience preferred.
• Experienced teacher with outstanding teaching skills and strategies.
• Ability to meet all job expectations and objectives.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

• Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
• Occasional interaction with unruly people.
• Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 40 pounds (100 pounds on wheels).
• Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop.
