There are 2 position available with a schedule that works all weekends:
#1 Sat-Weds, with Thurs/Fri off (Sat 9-5, Sun 12-5, Mon 9-6, Tues 9-5, Weds 9-5, plus 2 hours off desk)
#2 Weds-Sun, with Mon/Tues off (Weds 9-6, Thurs 9-5, Fri 9-5, Sat 9-5, Sun 12-5, plus 2 hours off desk)
As our Technology Specialist for our libraries, you will help to make technology accessible to our patrons so that they can be confident using technology.
Every day you will be assigned to one of our library branches where you will be assisting patrons in-person with their technology questions. You will be trained to help manage the 3D print service. You will also be trained to provide support for various district technology hardware/software issues as they come up. You will be part of a team that communicates with each other by chat or email to collaboratively meet the community's tech needs.
To thrive in this job, you must enjoy teaching others how to use technology (including laptops, phones, tablets, apps, software, etc.), troubleshooting issues, learning fixes on the spot and walking a patron through the fixes so that the patron learns throughout the process.
You also must have a desire to make a difference in the lives of our patrons, and commitment to making sure the problem is solved in its entirety, following up whenever something needs it and finding creative ways to get people help, with the ability to set appropriate boundaries to curb problematic patron behavior. If you are the frequent go-to tech person in your family, or you've taught tech skills to others this may be the job for you.
You enjoy tricky tech problems because you know how to troubleshoot and get creative to find solutions, and you are unwilling to give up until you find an answer.
You have a team-focused attitude. You extend support and kindness to colleagues while acting independently with minimal oversight and take the initiative to learn on your own.
You are reliable and on-time and know the impact when you're not. You can read schedules and interpret changes to determine where to go next.

You must have:
One year of technology-related experience.
One year of customer service or teaching experience.
Demonstrated intermediate aptitude for technology/troubleshooting skills.
Patience and aptitude for working with patrons of all backgrounds and skill levels
Ability to find answers to things you don't know.
Positive contributor and supportive team member and invested in the success of teammates.
Ability to work all weekend days

Work Environment:
The essential duties for this position are performed in an indoor, public-facing environment.
Moderate noise (computers, phones, printers and patron interactions).
Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to work in confined areas.
Ability to work inside in all types of inclement weather conditions.
Ability to travel to various Library District locations, including flexibility with changing locations on short notice. This position does not have one set home location and requires traveling to different locations as assigned.
May communicate with staff and patrons across multiple communication channels, including email, phone, video, online chat and in-person.
