Overview:
This is a dual role that involves performing bed placement for the 4 main SLHS campuses as well as supporting Transfer Center calls. Staff are scheduled for their shifts to either work in the patient placement role or taking Transfer Center calls.
In the bed placement role staff work with the floor Charge RNs, campus admin supervisors, and patient flow supervisor to get bed assignments for patients as quickly as possible. This requires the ability to multi-task, document quickly, and provide clear and concise communication.
When doing Transfer Center calls THSs work alongside the Transfer Center RNs to coordinate patient movement into, within, and out of the SLHS. Staff connect physicians and advanced practitioners to coordinate transfer of care. Staff must be able to multi-task, document quickly, provide clear communication, and follow outlined processes efficiently.
Transfer Center/bed placement does not currently involve any routine communication with patients; however, have a tremendous amount of impact on patient outcomes.
