POSITION SUMMARYThe Telephonic Registered Nurse is an integral part of the Express Scripts Specialty Distribution Services (ESSDS) team. ESSDS Nurse Clinicians are trained on the specialty medications dispensed and medical conditions encountered in the unique patient population serviced. The position entails patient support calls and requires frequent use of clinical education due to the complexity of the therapies and conditions they treat. Nurses are responsible for completing required REMS enrollments and certifications and other requirements in the patient\'s course of therapy to ensure any needs are addressed. Unique aspects of this role include: pharmacovigilance reporting, acting as clinical subject matter expert for niche medications, and support of large team of other pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and reimbursement specialists.This role is not work-site dependent which allows most work to be performed at home or on occasion at a Cigna office locationThe pharmacy is open 7am-8pm CT, shift times will occur during pharmacy hours.Mandatory overtime can sometimes be necessary to meet business needs.Nurses must reside and be licensed in Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) states.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSupport incoming call queue and provide assistance to prescribers patients, caregivers or other parties.Complete enrollments and certifications required which includes contacting doctors and/or patients to verify information needed for processing,Provide telephonic education to patients and caregivers following program guidelines and work within the nursing scope of practice and guidelines.Perform clinical assessment and provide disease and drug-specific education to the patient and caregiver.
Document assessments and any clinical interventions according to the program protocols and nursing scope of practice and guidelines.
Collect clinical data as determined by the clinical programs and nursing scope of practice and guidelines.
Report Adverse Drug Events that have been experienced by the patient in accordance with the FDA and Pharmaceutical requirements.
When clinically necessary, contact the patient\'s treating physician to inform him/her of any previously unreported new disease state specific symptom(s), medication adherence issues and any other health related matters that were identified on the clinical assessment.
Assist with the coordination of care between prescriber offices and patients for the prescribed medication, triaging for complex issues to ensure continuity of care.Collaborate with internal teams including pharmacists, technicians, reimbursement specialists, concierge and SPOC (Single Point of Contact) services.Assist with new hire training, mentoring and development to ensure adherence to processes and procedures.
Assist with developing and maintaining training forms and work instructions.
Responsible for good housekeeping techniques, adhering to quality and production standards while complying with all applicable company, state and federal safety and environmental programs and procedures.
Provide additional coverage or support for other program tasks as requested by leadership.QUALIFICATIONS
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) states.Bachelor\'s Degree preferred.
2-5 Years of relevant nursing experience with advanced problem solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with other departments and medical professionals to resolve issues.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage timelines and adapt in a quickly changing environment.Ability to work independently and maintain efficiency and focus in a remote work environment.Ability to multi-task and maintain detail orientation with a focus on quality and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work cross-functionally to solve complex problems and improve quality and service.Strong verbal, and written and telephonic communication skills.Basic working knowledge of email, Word, Excel, OneNote Microsoft Office applications and general computing skills.Prior knowledge and experience in the areas of Sleep Medicine, Neurology, Pulmonology, or Pediatrics is preferred.Previous telephonic clinician work experience is preferred.If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an hourly rate of 31 - 53 USD / hourly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.We want you to be healthy, balanced, and feel secure.
