DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT:

This is a non-exempt, temporary, part-time position, limited to 1300 hours annually, under supervision of the Assistant Director and/or Recreation Supervisor. The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the effective delivery of marketing, publicity and sponsorship services that contribute to the Pueblo Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Pueblo's mission and vision.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



Promotes, develops and implements marketing efforts to increase utilization and participation of all Parks and Recreation department programs, facilities, and events. Produces and maintains digital and print communication mediums for all Parks and Recreation department programs, parks, facilities, and events. Develops, manages, and monitors social media content/graphics for Parks and Recreation department. Coordinates and produces community special events to include, but not limited to Movies in the Park. Represents, with assistance from other Program Coordinators, the department in community job fairs, school open house events, and community special events.

IMPORTANT

FUNCTIONS:


Create and manage consistent image and messaging media plan for the promotion of Parks and Recreation department. Assist with the development of marking initiatives and solicits corporate and private program sponsorships in support of department. Assist the City Information Technology, and Public Affairs Department with content development and community engagement for the Parks and Recreation webpages and social media outlets. Coordinate and/or support public awareness and information programs for community outreach events designed to foster a positive public image of the city and department. May perform duties of similar classifications of an equal or lower pay grade as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMNTS:


The physical attributes an employee must have in order to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation include, but are not limited to:
Must have ability to lift and move files and supplies weighing up to 45 pounds, with or without accommodation. Work is sedentary and done in a seated position, but requires frequent moving about, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching or stooping to perform filing. Stands for prolonged periods on occasion when participating in community events. The incumbent must be able to hear all communication from customers and employees by telephone or in person, and use vision to work with written documents, forms, and to respond to employees and customers. Operate a motor vehicle using adequate auditory, visual, hand and foot coordination.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

The employee must have thorough knowledge of and proficiency with:

Publicity and marketing initiatives, media relations, publication design, guest feedback processes, data collection and analysis, and marketing plans. Guest service techniques and ability to interact with guests in a positive manner. Computer software including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher), Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, and other related software, sufficient to create and maintain promotional material, social media graphics, presentations, and reports. The principles and practices of web-editing, online marketing, popular marketing venues, and social media. The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance for accessibility concerns related to graphic design, colors, and alt text for display. Public speaking, written correspondence, and verbal communications to effectively communicate with culturally diverse individuals and groups. Grammer, vocabulary, and principles of business correspondence. The practices and processes of parks and recreation programming and services. Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

The employee must have the skill and ability to:
Adhere to budget parameters for purchasing, expenditures, and revenue expectations. Create all marketing material, including flyers, posters, banners, program guides, postcards, electronic forms, signs, decals, badges, handouts, advertisements, giveaways, brochures and presentations. Provide lead direction and training to program staff. Ensure program compliance with mandated City policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Use independent judgment, remain calm under stress, and respond appropriately to routine and non-routine situations. Attend trainings, orientations, and meetings as necessary. Ability to work successfully with and provide good customer service to supervisors, other City employees, the public and other agencies and organizations. Ability to perform all the job duties in a safe manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above, this position requires the following:
A high school diploma or GED At least two years of direct work experience in field of parks and recreation, marketing, business administration, or public relations. A valid driver's license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of employment. + License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification.
+ During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

An associate degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in marketing, business administration, public relation or recreation preferred.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


This position involves regular exposure to noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and extended direct expose to the sun.
Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.

City of Pueblo Temporary and Seasonal Employee Sick Leave Benefits


Beginning January 1, 2021, all employers in Colorado are required to provide paid sick leave to employees under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act ("HFWA"). Said leave is accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours.
Per the Act, leave may be used for any of the following reasons:
The employee has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care. The employee needs to care for a family member who has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care. The employee or family member has been the victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or harassment and needs to be absent from work for purposes related to such crime; or A public official has ordered the closure of the school or place of care of the employee's child or of the employee's place of business due to a public health emergency, necessitating the employee's absence from work.

Consistent with the HWFA, part-time temporary and seasonal employees of the City shall not carry forward more than forty-eight (48) hours of unused sick leave from one year to the next.

City employment as a temporary or seasonal employee means that the most you can expect to work is 1300 hours in a calendar year. Depending on the work schedule required by the hiring department, this means more time to spend with your family and/or doing other activities.
