Examples of Work
Under the direction of the Regional Superintendent be responsible for the protection and preservation of Victoria Springs State Recreation Area. Supervise and perform technical and practical work supporting the management, conservation, interpretation, development and use of park areas and resources.
Supervise and carry out various operating tasks involved in traffic control, emergency response, recreation program operation, cabin, campground and picnic area operation and maintenance, accident prevention, fire control, plant disease and insect control and equipment maintenance.
Hire, train and supervise seasonal work force. Publicize park areas and the Division\'s mission, program and goals by means of personal appearance before interested groups. Assist in handling administrative and data collections functions. Maintain records and prepare appropriate reports. Perform related work as required.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor\'s degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND one year related experience. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor\'s degree on a year-for-year basis.
OTHER: Driver\'s license is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to plan, manage, analyze and evaluate park programs. Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and application of park and cultural resources management and conservation. Knowledge of departmental rules and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain community and public relations with business, special interest groups, and state, local and federal agencies.
Knowledge of park operations, administration and financial management. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to supervise subordinate staff and to enforce park rules and regulations. Ability to work weekends and holidays.
