NTT DATA Services currently seeks a Test Data Specialist QA to join our team working project in Phoenix, AZ. Must be local to Phoenix, AZ to come in once a month for meetings.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for creating and managing data that will be used through all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle by various testing teams in the organization to support in-scope testing activities. The Test Data Coordinator will assist in the planning, organizing, and provisioning of test data for all applications; both Vendor Managed and Legacy applications for major projects.

  • Manage efforts necessary to identify and define test data needs based on business requirements for Vendor Managed and Legacy Applications and surrounding/interfacing systems. This requires working with management and staff in multiple departments.
  • Extract, import and export test data in various databases and file formats.
  • Ownership of Test Data required to support all functional and non-functional testing.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on test data for testing teams and dev teams where applicable.
  • Identify, design, and implement test data process improvements that involve automating manual processes of existing test data generation to optimize delivery.
  • Optimize test data processes based on lessons learned through projects.
  • Manage test data challenges for the testing team providing guidance, training and mentoring of the team members where needed.
  • Collaborate with Governance & Standards Lead to develop reusable templates for documenting test data requirements.
  • Partner with Governance & Standards Lead to ensure adherence to test data policies and strategies to make certain data is synchronized across different systems.
  • Perform data auditing activities and assist with ongoing governance and data architecture processes.
  • Work with Test Lead to ensure test data requirements are met.
  • Assist in triage of defects and in finding a solution to defects that are related to test data inconsistencies.
  • Apply extensive expertise in integration and test and be recognized as a subject matter expert in managing data.
  • Partner with management to define the test data management strategy roadmap.
  • Execute on the test data management strategy roadmap by consulting with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support test lead when needed.
  • Support Functional test planning, design, test data preparation, and execution activities.
  • Identify and mitigate/escalate risks and issues to the test lead that are related to test data inconsistencies.
  • Identify test data anomalies and perform data reconciliations.
  • Identify relationships in disparate data and resolve test data discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with other Enterprise teams to acquire/provision de-identified test data required to support planned testing
  • Coordinate with Release/Change/Environment Management teams to setup test data in various non prod environments to enable the planned testing
  • Coordinate with testing team, automation team, environment team, and other Enterprise teams to assess test data gaps in test environments to support planned testing
  • Validate consistency of data in test environments.
  • Formulate test data backup plans and ensure that they are implemented in a timely fashion and properly secured.
  • Work on and coordinate special projects as requested by management.
  • The position requires a full-time work schedule and does not support work from home. Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any overtime as requested or needed to perform job responsibilities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES 1. Required Job Skills
  • High skill in use of office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, scanner, and telephones
  • High PC proficiency
  • Proficient in spreadsheet, database and word processing software
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and standard code sets and their appropriate use
  • Ability to read files, file formats, workflows, and data flows

  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute Functional testing within various health plan domains (reports, commissions, claims, financials, customer service, operational reports, providers, products and benefits, etc.)
  • Proficient in End-to-End operational flows across various health plan domains (reports, commissions, claims, financials, customer service, operational reports, providers, products and benefits, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of testing methodology, terminology, estimation models, templates etc.
  • Deep understanding of the Software Development Life-Cycle and associated processes
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Build teams to resolve defects
  • Demonstrated ability to make effective use of Test Data
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage testing tools in Test Management
  • Demonstrated ability to capture key testing metrics, create accurate status reports, and drive transparency into test execution status
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate Risks and Issues related to Testing
  • Proficient in estimating effort and allocating work across the team
  • Strong understanding of information systems, business processes and the key drivers and measures for success
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy.

  • Proficient in identifying test data needs during test planning and test script design in a health plan context
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with large testing teams, including vendor teams to assess and mitigate test data gaps
  • Foundational understanding of key Data Management principles (e.g. data consistency, integrity etc.)
  • Foundational understanding of key enterprise systems
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet, SQL queries, database, and flow charting software.
  • Advanced knowledge of data mapping techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer operating systems.
