The TFS Program Coordinator - Aviation/Rotor will provide local oversight and leadership to aviation employees assigned to the state for various activities. They will provide direct interaction with the communities, fire departments and other response and support agencies and organizations within the region and across the state as needed. They will also promote local capacity building and the increased capabilities on local and statewide levels.
Responsibilities:
-Serves as an emergency aviation responder (including all-hazard and wildland fire) which may require
working long hours with minimal rest and in primitive conditions in addition to exposure to harsh environmental conditions: smoke, wind, sunlight, rain, temperature extremes. Walking longs distances, standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, reaching and kneeling, lifting and carrying heavy objects. Driving motor vehicles for long distances. Operating heavy equipment with related exposure to equipment vibration and noise. Operating computers with monitors for extended periods of time. Emergency response may result in exposure to emotionally stressful situations for extended periods of time. Persons serving in fire operations must meet moderate physical fitness standard.
-Deliver capacity building programs to Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS) employees and cooperators in aviation related disciplines.
-Assist in the administration of assigned personnel and delivery of programs developed by the Incident Aviation Operations Officer.
-Serves on TAMFS Incident Management, Fire Prevention and Urban Interface Mitigation Teams with related training and preparedness. Provide support for TAMFS emergency response training programs and activities.
-Provide support for Forest Resource Development division and other TAMFS programs as required.
-Manage and account for assigned agency credit cards, agency vehicle log books, activity time reports and any assigned agency-owned equipment in accordance with applicable laws, rules, policies, procedures and guidelines.
-Complies with all loss prevention, environmental health and safety standards as established by applicable laws and rules.
-Other duties as assigned.
Within 90 days of hire must establish primary residency within 30 minutes travel time of home base to ensure timely response for duty as directed.

Education and Experience:
Required Education: Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree
Preferred Education: Bachelor\'s degree with emphasis in Natural Resources, Land Management, Fire Science, Emergency Management, Spatial Sciences, Public Administration or Business Administration.
Required Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of demonstrated knowledge of firefighting, with an emphasis on wildland. Working knowledge of wildfire aviation.
Preferred Experience: Experience as a firefighter and instructor with a wildland fire agency or recognized fire department. Experience in wildfire aviation operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Knowledge: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of wildland firefighting skills, including wildfire tools, firefighter personal protective equipment, wildland fire apparatus and working knowledge of firefighting aircraft and UAS.
Required Abilities: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Required: Valid Texas Driver\'s license. FFT2
Preferred: Advanced fire line qualifications, particularly aviation related: HECM, FWPT, RTCM, ATIM, UASP, etc. Class A CDL. Unit Leader qualification with field experience working with an Incident Management Team. Single Resource Boss qualification or aviation related qualification.
Other Requirements:
Must meet moderate physical fitness test by completing a 2-mile walk carrying 25 lbs. in 30 minutes or less. Response to wildfires and all-hazard incidents as requested. Serve on TAMFS Incident Management Team.
Preferred: Meet and maintain an arduous physical fitness standard by completing a 3-mile walk carrying 45 lbs. in 45 minutes or less.
