Responsibilities:
Read work orders, blueprints, plans, datasheets or site drawings to determine work to be done.
Mobilize & prep tools and materials to remote locations.
Tower stacking construction. Bolt equipment into place, using hand or power tools.
Install and test appropriate power, ground, coaxial or OSP cables. (fiber and copper)
Check antenna positioning to ensure specified azimuths or mechanical tilts and adjust as necessary.
Replace existing antennas with new antennas as directed.
Install all necessary transmission equipment components, including antennas or antenna mounts, surge arrestors, transmission lines, connectors, or tower-mounted amplifiers (TMAs). ISP. Microwave.
Perform basic rigging, using haul & tag systems. Tie solid knots including the Figure eight, Prussic, Alpine butterfly and Water knot
Test operation of tower transmission components, using sweep testing tools or software.
Inspect completed work to ensure all hardware is tight, antennas are level, hangers are properly fastened, proper support is in place, or adequate weather proofing has been installed.
Take site survey photos or photos of work performed, using digital cameras.
Complete reports related to project status, progress, safety reporting or other work details, using computer software.
Conducts self safely at all times, ensures a safe area for others, and completes required training, assessments and reports timely. Participates in THA or tailgate jobsite meetings and complies with client safety procedures.
Any other work for which you have the skills and ability to perform that furthers the goals of NSTI and meets the needs of its customers.
Skills Required (level required ties to level of position):
Current certification in Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue required.
Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines and practical use of these guidelines as well as all other applicable safety laws and policies.
Basic troubleshooting experience preferred
Technical knowledge of wireless telecommunications products preferred
Willingness to take on and learn new tasks, as needed.
Ability to multi-task in a demanding environment.
Experience in tower-rigging preferred
Knowledge of Anritsu and/or PIM testing preferred.

Climbing; ascending or descending ladders up to 30 feet high, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, & poles using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. General installation.
Heights; working on scaffolding and towers up to 30 feet high. [Tower specific JD requires over 30' up to 300'often]
Hazards; Includes a variety of physical conditions, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles and large equipment, electrical current, toxic substances requiring PPE, confined spaces, etc.
Environment - The worker is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures typically -10 up to -50 degrees below freezing wind chill for periods of up to 12 hours, with occasional breaks. Requires Arctic Gear. Other factors - outside remote environmental conditions such as high wind, low humidity, and isolation.
No Telecommuting. Tasks must be performed at NSTI or Customer site location(s).
Education and Experience Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Post-secondary education, documented electronics education preferred.
At least 2 years verifiable experience in some combination of required skills
Successful candidates must:
Possess active valid Driver's License
Pass a pre-employment DOT drug & alcohol screening with on-going program participation.
Pass fitness testing.
Pass background screening.
Be able to fulfil rotational assignments by travel within state of Alaska approx. 50% - 75%
Possess trade hand tools
