The NCDA&CS Emergency Programs Division\'s mission is to support the agriculture community and protect consumers by coordinating the Department\'s efforts to plan for, respond to, and recover from emergency events and public health concerns that may impact agriculture in NC.
This position will develop, design, and deliver educational courses and training to agency personnel and external stakeholders in order to build or enhance agriculture and animal emergency response capabilities. This position will also plan, design, coordinate, and conduct discussion-based and operations-based exercises to evaluate plans and agriculture emergency response capabilities.
The Emergency Programs Specialist Training & Exercise Coordinator analyzes the risks to agriculture and animals in North Carolina, and the state-wide capability to respond to agriculture and animal emergencies. Based on the analyses, and in collaboration with other Emergency Programs staff, the EP Training & Exercise Coordinator plans and prioritizes the development and delivery of training and education to internal staff and external stakeholders. The EP Training & Exercise Coordinator develops and designs courses using a variety of media and instructional techniques to ensure the learning success of students.
The variety of subject matter delivered may be technically complex and involve a wide range of topics related to agriculture and animal health and emergency response. The EP Training & Exercise Coordinator will also analyze internal and external emergency preparedness and response capability (e.g. planning, training, organization, and equipment) by designing and conducting a wide array of exercises, both discussion-based and operations-based, to evaluate gaps and identify the potential for enhancements.
