Description

Under moderate supervision, monitors transit areas, conducts fare inspections, and provides customer service to ensure the safety of Metro patrons and employees, as well as protecting Metro infrastructure. This is an armed non-sworn classification.

Examples of Duties

Provides customer service to Metro patrons Protects Metro patrons, employees, infrastructure, revenues and other assets Patrols, monitors, and safeguards Metro infrastructure at regularly scheduled intervals Ensures adherence to Metro's Customer Code of Conduct Ensures safety of Metro employees Works with local law enforcement and other government agencies Assists law enforcement and effect an arrest as needed Observes and reports on security and safety problems or incidents Escorts vault truck drivers during Revenue pick-up from various Metro locations and divisions Monitors the handling of Metro revenue at Cash Counting Facility and Metro Ticket Offices Writes reports regarding incidents of suspicious activity and vandalism occurring on Metro property Keeps written log of daily activities May perform security operations duties as necessary in the Security Operations Center (SOC) Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried out
May be required to perform other related job duties

Minimum Qualifications

Experience


None Required: One year of relevant security or law enforcement experience preferred

Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements


Minimum of 21 years of age Valid California Class C Driver License Must be able to obtain a California Guard Card issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs within six months of hire Must be able to obtain a Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Baton Permit within six months of hire date Must be able to obtain a valid Firearm Permit issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs within six months of hire. Must qualify with and carry a firearm while on duty Must pass enhanced background investigation, psychological evaluation, and medical examination. Internal promotions from TSO I only need to pass an updated background investigation Elements of this position require access to sensitive security information (SSI) Uncorrected vision: no more than 20/70 in both eyes Must have normal color vision Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing, under Federal Transit Administration (FTA)

Pension Plan

- PTSC retirement plan is the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Vesting is five (5) years. Minimum retirement age is 52, based on the 2% at 62 formula.
