Exciting opportunity to join our growing team and travel throughout Alaska providing necessary vision services to remote rural communities.

Assist a Licensed Optometrist with travel and operating mobile 'clinics' complete with office, optical, and examination lane in various settings. Travel occurs primarily by commercial bush plane, with short distances on ATVs, snow-machines, and boats depending on season. Duties involve travel coordination and clinic responsibilities. Time in the field is generally split between clinic and travel time. Generous daily rate with stipend, clothing and equipment allowance, and all travel expenses paid. Bonuses available with experience.

Bring whatever experience you have in customer service, hospitality, medical or optical industries, or as a travel guide and get trained in the rest. Scheduling is flexible based on trip length and season. You help decide when and for how long your team is out in the 'field'. Primarily, you must enjoy extended travel and interacting with lots of different folks, as well as being in the 'field' for periods of 10 days or longer. Please note: this is not a full-time position or intended to replace your full time employment. Requirements

:
Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs. equipment cases
Proficient computer skills for data entry
Strong organizational skills
Comfortable adapting to new environments and work conditions

Job Duties

:
Assist with coordinating travel to Alaskan villages
Collect and enter patients data
Assist patients with selecting glasses (frame and lens options)
Answer phone and communicate with patients and other staff
