Newcold is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role requires travel (25% of the time) to various company sites and customer locations to provide [specific service, support, or expertise]. You will be working closely with our teams across different locations, ensuring the highest level of service, troubleshooting, training.
As a Maintenance Tech, you will perform a broad range of maintenance and repair activities to ensure the warehouse can operate effectively and efficiently. Maintain a professional culture on site and a commitment to Health & Safety, in line with company values.
Qualified applicants must possess tangible experience in troubleshooting mechanical / electrical breakdowns in manufacturing production equipment. Will be responsible for the upholding of plant equipment including conveyors, stacker cranes, ammonia refrigeration system, oxygen reduction system, pallet handling equipment, fire protection, automatic loading/unloading carriers, doors and levelers and other mechanical systems.
Intended results
Ensuring all equipment is maintained according to supplier guidelines. This includes: conveyors, cranes, refrigeration systems (evaporators and condensers), fire protection, freezer doors, pallet-handling equipment, PLC's, dock doors and other mechanical systems
Performing planned preventative maintenance and repairs in a timely and safe manner, with minimal impact to normal operations
Responsibilities
Responsible for troubleshooting: The ability to rapidly assess, analyze and resolve complicated problems with little initial information or direction and with varying degrees of ambiguity. Intermediate troubleshooting methodology is demonstrated. Able to troubleshoot to technical knowledge and slightly beyond
Monitor and maintain compliance within the PSM Program (Process Safety Management)
At times, work a flexible schedule as needed: Including nights, weekends, and holiday shifts
Follow instructions through standard work orders and perform routine and repetitious tasks completely/accurately. All work meets or exceeds standards
Respond to maintenance calls and work orders promptly with a teaching mentality and positive attitude. Assists operations in solving issues and improving efficiencies
Core tasks
Perform planned preventative maintenance on equipment while minimally impacting normal operations
Troubleshoot, repair and/or replace components in conveyors, cranes, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, and other mechanical systems
Strong schematic reading and tracing on PLC systems
Troubleshoot and fix problems with control systems, low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems
Setup and operate machine tools such as milling machine, grinder, drill, etc to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, as required
Operate cutting torch and welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
Ensure actions are executed in conformance with OSHA, FSDA requirements, and all other company policies to maintain a safe working environment
Report, plan and track all maintenance and engineering issues using maintenance software.
Lead by example to help create and maintain a culture of Safety First.
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred 2-5 years of experience in a storage distribution/production manufacturing/industrial maintenance environment operating, repairing and/or troubleshooting issues on conveyance systems and other material handling equipment
Previous experience in a combination of the following systems: Pumps, Mechanical Drives, Lubrication, Fasteners, Piping, Proper Tool Use, Motors, Pneumatics, Sensors, Proximity Switches, Automatic Valves and other basic mechanical systems and processes
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including: low-voltage, high-voltage 480V, and 3-phase motors
Able to travel 25% to various Newcold Locations
Physical Demands
Must be in good physical condition
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Must be able to work effectively in -5 freezer environment
Must be able to climb 120ft ladder using safety harness
Will be required to wear a SCBA while working, requiring employee to be clean shaven.
