DepartmentVegetation MgmntLocationPlymouth, NHPosition TypeFull TimeSalary$73,000 \xe2\x80\x93 $78,000Requisition2024-22Date2024.07.15DescriptionTHEPOSITION:Reporting to the VegetationManagement Supervisor, the Utility Arborist will manage and maintain aright-of-way maintenance program, specifying effective and efficient right-ofway practices, and to insure uninterrupted electrical service to the membershipand to provide access to the electric line for improvements, repair,patrolling, inspections, or any other needs.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • SupportNHEC\'s strategic goals by developing and reporting on Balanced Scorecardobjectives.
  • Exhibitself-leadership, build effective relationships, focus on results, innovate, andseek feedback.
  • Reviewand manage the right-of-way budget monthly, recommending corrective actions asneeded.
  • Enhanceprofessional and technical knowledge through ongoing education and industryinvolvement.
  • Minimizeservice interruptions by developing clearing standards and maintainingright-of-ways.
  • Ensure asafe, cost-effective distribution system by overseeing contract crews andconducting inspections.
  • Maintainsubstations and pole yards using mechanical and herbicide applications.
  • Fosterpositive relationships with members, the public, and governmental bodies byaddressing clearing concerns.
  • Ensurecompliance with OSHA and Right-of-Way safety standards; take corrective actionas necessary.
  • Coordinate between municipalities andcontractors for right-of-way maintenance.
THEPERSON:
  • Technical Degree in Forestry or EnvironmentalScience; or an Associate of Applied Science degree in Forestry or related fieldis preferred or 2 years of related rightof way maintenance clearing experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Musthave a minimum of three years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in right-of-way maintenance clearingwith a utility in a construction/operations area is preferred. Must maintain a current driver\'s license.
  • Mustpossess and maintain a N.H. Supervisory Pesticide Applicators License or obtainwithin one year of employment.
  • Mustpossess and maintain a ISA Arborist Certification or obtain within one year ofemployment.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting in theactivities of right-of-way clearing section, including budgeting, scheduling ofday-to-day assignments, contract services, and developing competitive terms andconditions for bid specifications and contracts. Must have proficient math skills forperforming calculations in field and office applications.
  • Must be able to work effectively and have theability to read and understand construction drawings, maps, chemicalformulations and instruction manuals for use of cutting and chemicals.
  • Basic understanding and use of Excel, and otherMicrosoft Office products is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skillsare a must.
  • Must have experience or aptitude to acquire andmaintain a working knowledge of easements and permits along with all state,federal and local regulations and guidelines pertaining to VegetationManagement.
WORKINGCONDITIONS:Individualwill be exposed to a wide variety of working conditions, which range fromoffice work to outside inspections of right-of-way throughout NHEC system. Travel is required in the responsibilities andrepresentation of NHEC at various professional and association meetings. Overtime is also required especially duringsevere storm related conditions, and when seasonal workloads become great.Assistancewith power restoration efforts is required of all employees. It may be required during regular businesshours that employees will be assigned functions to support power restorationand for some employees that may be different from their normal duties. Inaddition, such assistance may require working nights, weekends and holidayswhich may involve considerable extra hours. In order to meet this working condition, all employees are required toprovide a personal phone number where they may be reached after hours.
