We are a group of enthusiastic pet heroes who go beyond expectations at providing a personalized experience for all patient-guests and their parents. We currently provide dermatology, internal medicine, medical oncology, surgery, ophthalmology and emergency services. Our quality of care and diverse specialty offerings makes VRCCO\'s team the leaders in advanced pet care for Central Oregon. To improve the experience for our patients and help support our amazing team we are currently in the process of building an over 26,000 sq ft facility. Not only will this facility have all the advanced diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities (MRI, CT, Fluoroscopy, chemotherapy etc\xe2\x80\xa6) it will also have a campus-like feeling for employees and clients with food trucks, childcare for staff, beer garden, and an upstairs balcony.

Being a part of the Vet Cadets teaching team means you are directly helping the Veterinary professionals with your passion for teaching and fostering a safe learning environment for their children. Toddler teachers help support a child\'s personal, academic, and social progress during a crucial stage of brain development. On a daily basis our childcare teaching team is given the opportunity to embrace one of the organization\'s core values, education. This role is to shape early learners\' education experience and continue seeking passion for teaching young children new skills.

Essential Functions:

  • The ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom and outdoor play areas.
  • This position requires frequent bending, crouching, and sitting on the floor.
  • Daily opening and closing tasks include disinfecting toys, stacking and cleaning furniture/sleep areas as needed, relocating items and toys back to their storage area.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans for preschool aged children in an early childhood setting.
  • Create a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes learning and growth.
  • Provide individualized attention and support to all children and foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in young children.
  • The use of effective classroom management techniques to create a positive and safe learning environment for children between the ages of 12 months-up to 3 years.
  • Maintain accurate records of each child\'s progress and development.
  • Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, indoor or outdoor games, drawing, etc.) to enhance the child\'s abilities.
  • The ideal candidate is full of positive energy and has experience leading the daily classroom routine for a group of children under the age of 3.
  • Staff members will rotate the responsibility of the opening and closing shifts throughout the week, and utilize the opening and closing checklist to ensure a smooth process and center protocols are being followed.

Education & Experience (Must possess one of the following):
  • Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in early childhood education and Child development.
OR
  • A one year state or nationally recognized credential related to infant and toddler care.
OR
  • At least one year of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of infants and/or toddlers.
OR
  • Completion of 10 credits (semester system) or 15 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in: Early childhood education, Child development and at least six months of qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program and in the care of infants and/or toddlers.
OR
  • Documentation of attaining at least step 6 in the Oregon Registry.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities and/ or competencies:
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment for each child. Includes supporting each child\'s academic, social, and personal development.
  • Embrace and share your knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Exposure to playful and noisy environments, ability to lift and carry children when necessary.
  • Ability to spend scheduled durations of time outside regardless of the weather to supervise outdoor play.
  • A positive attitude, patience, and flexibility for unforeseen circumstances in the classroom.
  • A mental requirement includes having a passion for fostering a nurturing educational environment for children to thrive in.
  • Maintain a happy, collaborative and positive attitude under stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development.
  • General principles of early childhood education
  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum implementation for toddler age children is required
  • Monitoring and assessing children\'s progress, providing feedback to parents/guardians.
Physical demands:
  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs., such as activity materials, snack foods, and furniture.
  • Sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
  • Stand and be mobile for over 75% of the work period
  • This position requires frequent bending, crouching, and sitting on the floor.
  • Conditions include environmental (hot/cold, inside/outside, noise level, lighting, ventilation, etc.) and social (works with the public, works under deadlines, works alone, etc.)
  • Working in the classroom includes exposure to playful and noisy environments when children are not at rest.
  • Work for long periods of time with arms extended.
