We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care to animals in a veterinary clinic setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and possess the necessary skills to assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality medical care. This role involves direct interaction with pets and their owners, ensuring a positive experience for both.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures. Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively during treatments. Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian. Prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization and anesthesia monitoring. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennel areas. Provide basic pet care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals. Record patient histories and maintain accurate medical records. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding care instructions and follow-up appointments. Support the veterinary team in various tasks as needed to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Qualifications

Experience in animal handling, preferably in a veterinary clinic or kennel environment. Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and veterinary critical care is a plus. Familiarity with dog handling techniques and equine care is desirable. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate compassionately with pet owners. Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Willingness to learn new skills related to veterinary practices and procedures. A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being.

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
