Summit Veterinary Services opened in October 2022 as a 1 doctor practice. We are a rapidly growing, soon to be 3 doctor, small animal practice located in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. We treat companion animals, exotics, and occasional wildlife. We have a large, well maintained facility with new equipment, full Idexx laboratory and a lot of space. We pride ourselves on our very low staff turn over and our practice's team approach.

Job Summary



We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have good communication skills, work well in a team setting and have good work ethic. As a Veterinary Assistant your roles will be aiding the Licensed Technicians with surgical and hospitalized patients, and helping the doctors with exams and treatments. As a Licensed Veterinary Technician your duties will include anesthesia, surgical monitoring, venipuncture, digital radiology, dental procedures, all aspects of patient and client care as allowed by state laws.

Veterinary Assistant Duties



Aid the Licensed Technicians with surgical and hospitalized patients. Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by holding animals and providing necessary support. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including oral medications and injections. Provide grooming services as needed, including nail trimming, and anal glands. Monitor the health and behavior of animals in the clinic, reporting any concerns to the veterinarian. Assist with laboratory tests, including sample collection and using in house laboratory equipment. Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with supplies. Maintain a clean hospital during your shift.

Licensed Veterinary Technician Duties



As a Licensed Veterinary Technician your duties will include all aspects of patient and client care as allowed by state laws including drug calculations, administering anesthesia, surgical patient monitoring, venipuncture, digital radiology, and dental procedures. Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by holding animals and providing necessary support. Maintain accurate medical records for each animal under care. Provide clear communication to our clients by phone, email and in clinic.

Requirements



For Veterinary Assistant applicants - preferably 1-2 years in clinic experience. We are willing to train the right candidate. For LVT applicants we require a valid license in another state that is transferable to Alaska.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour
