  • High school diploma
  • 3+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry or 1 years as a licensed RVT- highly preferred
  • Prior veterinary experience required
  • Previous emergency experience desired
  • Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform and accurately complete client invoices and estimates, CRI calculations, and all drug dosages and conversions
  • Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license)
Some duties you may own in this role:
  • Triaging
  • Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
  • Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
  • Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
  • Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
  • Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
  • Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
  • Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
  • Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
  • Monitoring hospitalized patients, treatments and nursing care
  • Venipuncture/IVC placement, cystocentesis, urinary catheter placement and NG tube placement.
  • Blood transfusion therapy including collection, administration, and transfusion reactions
Work Schedule:
  • Full-Time, Swing Shift Offers $3 Pay Differential
  • 4/10 Schedule
  • Some weekend and holiday availability required
Benefits and Compensation:
  • RVT: $25.00 - $40.00 hour
  • SVA: $25.00 - $36.00
