Job Description


Norstella is a leading provider of advanced analytics solutions for the healthcare industry. We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary leader to join our team as the Vice President of AI and Translational Science. In this role, you will be responsible for building predictive insights from real-world data, including claims, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), lab, and SDOH (Social Determinants of Health) data, to support pharmaceutical customers and use cases. You will play a critical role in driving the development and implementation of cutting-edge AI-driven solutions that enable our clients to make informed decisions, improve patient outcomes, and advance healthcare research.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Collaborate with the executive team to define the company\'s AI and translational science strategy, aligning it with the needs of pharmaceutical customers and the healthcare industry as a whole.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists, AI engineers, and researchers focused on developing advanced analytics solutions. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members.Predictive Insights: Develop and implement robust methodologies and algorithms to extract meaningful insights from diverse healthcare data sources, such as claims, EMR, lab, and SDOH data. Leverage AI and machine learning techniques to create predictive models and analytics that support pharmaceutical customers\' decision-making processes.
  • Customer Engagement: Collaborate closely with pharmaceutical clients to understand their specific needs, use cases, and challenges. Identify opportunities to leverage real-world data and advanced analytics to provide valuable insights that support their business objectives.
  • Data Governance and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, privacy requirements, and ethical standards in handling sensitive healthcare data. Implement rigorous data governance processes to maintain data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Thought Leadership: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and translational science. Act as a thought leader within the organization and the industry, participating in conferences, publishing research papers, and contributing to relevant communities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other internal teams, including product management, engineering, and business development, to ensure alignment and integration of AI and translational science capabilities into our overall product offerings.
Requirements:
  • Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field such as computer science, data science, bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in AI, data science, and translational science, preferably in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry. Strong familiarity with real-world data sources, including claims, EMR, lab, and SDOH data.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of AI and machine learning techniques, such as predictive modeling, natural language processing, and deep learning.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, etc.) and relevant tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives, manage resources effectively, and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare data landscape, and relevant regulations and compliance requirements. Familiarity with drug development processes and clinical research is highly desirable.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders. Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Analytical Thinking: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for identifying patterns and trends within large and complex datasets. A strong aptitude for translating data insights into actionable recommendations for business decision-making.
