JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President of Resident Care leads and oversees the clinical operations across the organization's assisted living and memory care communities. This position ensures excellence in resident care through quality assurance programs, regulatory compliance, and strategic leadership. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Care and Compliance, the VP of Resident Care plays a critical role in shaping and maintaining high standards of care, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and supporting clinical teams in delivering exceptional resident outcomes.


Guided by the organization's three pillars - Excellence, Human Focus, and Creativity, this leader will champion innovative care strategies, prioritize resident-centered solutions, and drive continuous improvement in clinical practices. The VP will be instrumental in implementing and overseeing Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives, fall mitigation strategies, and the coordination of onboarding for all clinical positions. The Vice President will also serve as a key resource for regional and community-based clinical leaders, providing guidance, training, and support to drive operational and clinical excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Clinical Leadership & Oversight



Provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure high-quality resident care across all assisted living and memory care communities. Oversee the Regional Directors of Health and Wellness, ensuring alignment with corporate clinical initiatives and best practices. Collaborate with executive and operational leadership to drive key clinical priorities, improve resident outcomes, and enhance care delivery.

Regulatory Compliance, and Risk Mitigation



Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local assisted living and memory care regulations. Partner with regulatory agencies, legal teams, and community leaders to proactively address compliance concerns. Develop and maintain audit, monitoring, and reporting mechanisms to mitigate risk. Provide guidance and training to regional and community-based teams on compliance and risk management protocols.

Infection Control



Oversee a robust infection control (IC) program that aligns with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Ensure all communities comply with federal, state, and local infection control regulations. Establish and maintain protocols for outbreak management, prevention strategies, and staff education. Monitor infection trends, implement proactive measures, and collaborate with healthcare partners to enhance infection prevention efforts. Integrate infection control practices into daily operations while maintaining a high standard of resident care.

Fall Mitigation and Resident Safety



Develop and oversee fall prevention and mitigation programs to enhance resident safety. Analyze incident data and trends to implement effective prevention strategies. Provide education and resources to community teams to ensure best practices in fall prevention.

Onboarding and Clinical Training



Coordinate onboarding programs for all clinical positions, ensuring new hires receive comprehensive orientation and training. Partner with training teams to develop clinical education programs and competency assessments. Support ongoing professional development initiatives for clinical leaders.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement



Work closely with operations, sales, and accounting teams to support sustainable growth and operational excellence. Serve as a liaison between the organization, ownership groups, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with clinical and operational goals. Engage with healthcare partners, industry groups, and professional organizations to stay current with best practices and emerging trends.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE



Education:



A bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health-related field is required. A Master's degree in healthcare administration, nursing leadership, or a related field is preferred.

Experience and Skills:



At least five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in assisted living, memory care, or another healthcare-related setting. Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing assisted living. Proven experience in developing and executing clinical quality assurance, compliance, and risk management programs. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor multi-site clinical teams. Strong background in strategic planning, data-driven decision-making, and performance measurement. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Special requirements:



Ability to travel to Cogir communities across 11 states, up to 70% of the time.
