Summary Statement

This position is responsible for coordinating and providing rehabilitative services leading to employment for eligible deaf individuals.\\r\

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.\\r\ \\r\ Obtains, reviews and analyzes relevant medical, psychological, psychiatric, social, educational and vocational data to determine eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services. \\r\ Provides specialized counseling to clients and family members to aid in achieving satisfactory vocational adjustment. \\r\ Formulates individualized written rehabilitation plan to meet clients\' needs. \\r\ Coordinates service with other agencies, hospitals, clinics, schools and other community resources to meet the needs of the client and monitor client\'s progress. \\r\ Provides job development and placement services to include follow-up to ensure satisfactory adjustment to the job. \\r\ Prepares case documentation and reports to justify expenditures and monitor client progress and outcome. \\r\ Locates, develops and maintains referral sources of disabled persons.

\\r\ \\r\ JOB REQUIREMENTS for Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor I\\r\ \\r\ \\r\ \\r\ \\r\ \\r\ Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\\r\ \\r\ Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher\xef\xbf\xbdin Rehabilitation Counseling, Social\xef\xbf\xbdor Behavioral Science or related field. \\r\ Knowledge of case management which includes assessing, planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating options and services to meet an individuals human service needs using effective counseling or interviewing techniques as well as other available resources such as service plans or case management systems. \\r\ Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation. \\r\ Knowledge of interpreting vocational rehabilitation laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. \\r\ Knowledge of making recommendations as part of a clients service plan such as clinical treatment, counseling, or determining eligibility for health or human services/benefits. \\r\ Knowledge of narrative report writing. \\r\ \\r\ \\r\ JOB REQUIREMENTS for Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor II \\r\ Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\\r\ \\r\ \\r\ Possession of a Masters degree or higher\xef\xbf\xbdin Rehabilitation Counseling, Social or Behavioral Science or related field OR Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) designation. \\r\ At least one year experience in vocational rehabilitation. \\r\ Six months experience in analyzing and interpreting medical, psychiatric, psychological, psycho-social, educational and vocational reports from medical, psychological, and other experts to determine eligibility or an individuals vocational rehabilitation needs. \\r\ Six months experience\xef\xbf\xbdin case management which includes assessing, planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating options and services to meet an individuals human service needs. \\r\ Six months experience\xef\xbf\xbdin health or human services work which includes applying theories, principles, laws and practices of health or human services programs and services that assist with and improve life for individuals, families, or communities such as financial support, employment, unemployment, housing, health care, disease prevention, substance abuse, child protective services, physical/mental health treatment and prevention or rehabilitation. \\r\ Six months experience\xef\xbf\xbdin interpreting vocational rehabilitation laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. \\r\ \\r\
