As Ascend Medical\'s VP of Finance, you will be responsible for driving all finance activities, including financial strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital management. In this role, you will be an integral member of Ascend\'s leadership team, report to the CEO, working closely with other functional leaders to drive Ascend Medical\'s overall success. This is a senior role that will be part of the Senior Leadership team and offers significant growth opportunities (both financially and operationally) for high performers. This position demands a seasoned financial leader with a deep understanding of healthcare finance, ideally with physician practice experience. You will be responsible for developing and scaling the proper planning and strategy to ensure Ascend Medical meets its headcount, product, and partnership goals as we grow as well as overseeing the more functional deliverables of finance.

As VP of Finance, you will:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and analyses, providing transparent insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead the development, monitoring, and analysis of annual budgets and rolling financial forecasts, providing strategic insights to support informed data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Build and lead a finance function capable of providing timely and actionable insights for company leadership in a high growth environment.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with Ascend Medical\'s goals, focusing on optimizing financial performance within the fee for service, cash pay and Value-Based Care frameworks.
  • Refine financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance, ensuring the financial infrastructure scales with Ascend Medical\'s growth.
  • Support capital raise processes by creating related financial support and serving as a financial subject matter expert in external meetings.

Requirements:

The right candidate will bring:
  • Leadership experience in the finance function of a healthcare startup or a financial leadership role in a larger healthcare organization, such as a provider practice, health system, or health plan.
  • 8+ years of experience building complex financial models.
  • Demonstrated ability to address both strategic and operational elements of finance.
  • Proven success in building and leading high-functioning teams.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with board members.
  • Track record of building strong relationships with technical teams.
  • Success in driving external deals, securing capital, evaluating/making acquisitions, Managed Services opportunity assessments, etc.
  • Deep understanding of financial regulations and compliance in the healthcare industry.
  • Highly proficient in Excel or Gsheets and skilled in developing financial models.
  • Initially, willingness to perform A/P and payroll functions in conjunction with HR. As Company grows, you can expand your team.
Additional Nice-to Have:
  • Experience in negotiating managed care contracts
  • Experience in Value-Based Care initiatives
  • Experience in QuickBooks (current system) and NetSuite implementations (migrating to in H2 2024)
