This position is responsible for managing the company\'s main Distribution Center warehouse. The overall objective of the role is to manage a safe, efficient and productive warehouse including overseeing all warehouse functions and staff.
Manage all warehousing and receiving operations
Inventory control ensuring adequate control of physical inventory\'s safekeeping.
Manages company vehicles
Supervise warehouse team including:
Ensure that the department is adequately staffed at all times, planning ahead for peak periods
Proactively working with staff to further their training and development
Ensure that all Company rules, policies and procedures are adhered to and issues are dealt with fairly, promptly and consistently
Facilities a positive and motivated work environment
Develop and implement a warehouse improvement plan with the focus on improving employee efficiency and productivity
Proactively identify ways to streamline, improve and automate warehouse functions using best practices identifying ways to optimize, reduce costs, and better support business operations.
Facilitate and support the implementation of relevant systems in order to control costs
Hold monthly staff meetings with a written summary
Work with Inventory Manager on shipping/transfer errors.
Maintain warehouse to be organized and clean
Actively promote a safety culture and ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are met
Actively maintain and promote safety initiatives
Responsible for warehouse employees to be up to date with all certifications
Ensuring policies are in place to reduce damage/shrinkage
Other duties as assigned
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
Must have three (4) yrs. experience in a warehouse environment, minimum two (2) years in a supervisory role
Experience with shipping, receiving and inventory control
Successful communication - written and verbal
Establish priorities and multi-task
Possess strong planning and organizing skills
Professional business demeanor
Experience with personal computers and materials handling equipment
Ability to work under pressure and rapidly changing priorities
Strong customer service and relationship building skills
Dale Carnegie training
Attend all Meier internal Leadership Training Programs
An entrepreneurial / business oriented mindset.
Experiences with logistics, efficiency, and continuous improvement
Must be problem-resolution oriented
Must be able to work on your feet for the duration of the day and lift, pull, push and carry at least 50lbs
