The Johnston County Public Utilities Department, Wastewater Division has Wastewater Treatment Operator positions available. Preferred candidate will possess a NCWWTF Grade I certification or higher.

Duties and Responsibilities

Position performs any and all functions necessary to operate and maintain equipment in a wastewater treatment plant including but not limited to adjusting valves, pumps, and other equipment in the plant. Duties also include lawn maintenance, painting, and light janitorial work. Shift work required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Possession of a valid North Carolina driver\'s license with CDL, Class "B" endorsement and a NCWWTF Grade I certification or higher.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the basic life functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly. Must possess the visual acuity necessary to operate machines and equipment including close inspection of moving and small parts, using measurement devices, perform assembly and fabrication of parts, prepare data records and operate a computer terminal.

Desired Education and Experience

Graduation from high school supplemented by courses in mechanical or plumbing trades, and experience including pumping, piping maintenance, and repair work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Possession of NCWWTF Grade I certification is required within twelve (12) months of employment. Salary for the position is certification based.
