Position Description

The purpose of this position is to operate and maintain the wastewater treatment facility in accordance with all environmental regulatory laws, rules, and regulations. This is accomplished by performing plant operations under the guidance of a Senior Operator. Examples of duties include: Collects samples conducts lab tests; calculates and adjusts chemical dosages, makes equipment/process adjustments, takes equipment readings; operates all equipment in both liquid and, solids streams, data entry; performs janitorial duties and other manual labor, including cleaning equipment, hosing, minor maintenance and prepping/painting. Recognizes equipment/process problems, and follows procedures to correct; provides suggestions for improvements and solutions to operational procedures/problems.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent GED, Valid Arizona Class D Driver License, ability to maintain respiratory program requirement for SCBA. Possess a Valid Grade 1, Arizona Wastewater Operator Certification, or ability to obtain within one (1) year from date of hire.

May require working weekends, evenings, nights, Holidays, overtime and emergency call-outs

May require staying past the end of a scheduled shift or coming in early to cover a shift and may require staying past scheduled shift

May require working alone as a solo operator on a shift

May require working in confined spaces

May require occasional heavy lifting

Requires the use of SCBA and other personal protective equipment (PPE)

Physical Demands

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, and extreme temperatures.

Job Information

Closing Date: Open until filled Hiring Salary: $20.96-$25.15/Hourly D.O.E.

Full Salary Range: $43,598.67 - $61,038.14
